Job Summary

We are looking for a hard-working, collaborative, innovative professional to join our Corporate Legal Data Strategy Team. This role will report to the Chief Privacy and Data Strategy Officer and will support the Companies’ global programs by providing excellent legal counsel and subject matter expertise. In this newly created position, you will help create the legal benchmarks, policies, processes, and assessments that will serve as the basis for our Privacy, Information and Cyber Security, Data Governance, and Artificial Intelligence governance programs. You will be part of a cross-functional team and work across all business lines for the Company, collaborating with stakeholders from various operating entities to help us fulfill our goals of unlocking the value of data while adhering to our values of data protection and consumer trust.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities

  • Keep abreast of new developments, best practices and industry standards around the world in the areas of Privacy, Information and Cyber Security, Data/Digital Governance, and Artificial Intelligence (the Data Ecosystem).
  • Assist in analyzing new legal and business requirements related to the digital ecosystem and providing counsel and support to our operating entities.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of legal policies affecting the enterprise and ensures (to the extent possible) legal strategies align with operating entities’ business objectives, and operating entities have consistent implementation based on common principles and standards.
  • Advises senior executives and other business stakeholders in area(s) of legal expertise.
  • Provide guidance, consultation, subject matter expertise and thought leadership in the data privacy space by sharing or facilitating sharing of best practices throughout the enterprise.
  • Conduct periodic privacy training to enhance privacy awareness and compliance within the organization.
  • Participates in the selection and retention of outside counsel and provides direction and oversight on important issues and transactions.
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Professional Experience & Qualifications:

  • At least 12 years combined legal experience at a top law firm and/or in-house legal department, with a majority of that time spent practicing and advising on matters related to the Digital Ecosystem. 
  • Juris Doctor (JD), and relevant subject matter certifications. 
  • Member in good standing of the state bar in which you will be practicing, or with ability to obtain full or limited in-house license in such jurisdiction. 
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with U.S. and EU privacy, Security, and AI laws, regulations and standards. 
  • Ability to think strategically and act tactically while effectively prioritizing risk.
  • Ability to translate legal requirements into practical guidance and formulate creative solutions to accomplish the company’s objectives.
  • Experience developing and implementing assessment processes, including Privacy Impact Assessment, AI Assessment, DPIA, TIA, LIA, ROPA, and others, consistent with legal requirements. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines with consistently high-quality results. 
  • Strong academic credentials. 
  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues, management, and operations personnel. 
  • Self-motivated and independent, but able to discern when matters should be escalated and when further guidance is needed. 
  • Ability to travel.

Compensation

This job can be performed in District of Columbia with a Pay Range of $260,571.30 - $408,623.18
