Job Description Summary

The project logistics specialist shall be responsible for ensuring that the specified scope (package/material) is completely delivered at the required destination, with safety and quality in good condition within the timeframe and the allocated budget

Job Description

Key Responsibilities  

  • Performs logistics costing during tender (ITO) and project execution (OTR);
  • Collects and analyses all data needed from the tender manager / Project team before sending the Request for Quotations to Transport Service Providers.
  • Maintain and monitor a project logistics schedule in conjunction with PPLM (project procurement and logistics manager)
  • Maintain a cadence of project logistics review/ meetings with project team members.
  • Issues Request for Quotation (RFQ) to Transport Service Providers using the GE Vernova templates and following the GE Vernova sourcing rules.
  • Analyses the offers, sends the clarification requests to the Service Providers and performs commercial negotiation.
  • Ensures that all quotations are complete, compliant and received in due time.
  • Presents the price comparison table and technical analysis to the Bid manager (at ITO) / PPLM and Project team (during OTR), and highlight the logistics contingencies, risks and opportunities with the associated mitigation plan.
  • Prepares the complete file to be submitted to Logistics Team leader for mentored negotiation when applicable. 
  • Drive all relevant stakeholders to ensure timely issuance of the Purchase requisition and purchase order to logistics providers during project execution.
  • Issues the packing and marking instructions in due course and sends them to the Procurement team.
  • Issues the relevant local procedures for importation and/or transport in collaboration with the local logistics team / appointed customs brokers, where required;
  • Manages the delivery of equipment up to the place of destination within the schedule defined by the Project.
  • Ensures that all shipping documents are properly issued and released timely with accuracy to stakeholders, so that the expected delivery date and payment date are met. 
  • Ensures that all the international trade regulations & GE Vernova rules are fully respected before shipping.
  • Updates the shipping progress report periodically and timely.
  • Updates the Logistics cost follow-up tool and advises immediately the PPLM and the logistics team leader in case of deviation during project execution.
  • Monitors logistics Risks and Opportunities all along the project life and keep the PPLM and the logistics team leader informed of any change and/or new risk and opportunity.
  • Ensures that Service Providers are duly informed about EHS rules and implement them.
  • Ensures that the method statement for sensitive operations is issued in timely by the Service Provider, and ensure operations are carried out accordingly.
  • Conducts Review Meetings with the Service Provider and share Minutes of Meeting with the PPLM and the logistics team leader.
  • Deal with the Service Provider in case of minor deviations from transport contract specifications (non-conformances) and report to the PPLM, Logistics team Leader [and the Region procurement & logistics leader in case of major or repeated deviation].
  • Provides Service Provider performance feedback to logistics team Leader.
  • Follow all logistics processes & relevant tools usage.

•    Adhere to GEV’s principle of SQDC ~ safety always, and quality over delivery and cost.
•    On-time delivery of specified shipment as per project needs.
•    On-time release of shipping documents
•    Savings and budget compliance.
•    Accuracy and timeliness of reporting.
•    Adherence to the global processes and IT Tools for transport sourcing and execution,
•    Works as per GE Vernova’s the Spirit & the Letter Compliance Rules

Academic and Professional Background:
•    Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Logistics or related field with a minimum of 10 years of relevant Project logistics experience in an engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) environment within the Transmission & Distribution, Power Generation, or Oil & Gas industry.
•    Experience in managing oversized-dimension cargoes for at least 1 large and complex projects.
•    Experience or knowledge in Project Management, Sourcing & procurement and substation equipment.
•    Demonstrated experience and confidence navigating in high matrix set-up organization
