The Product Manager would report directly to the Head of Balance Transfers and Promotional Balances and will be responsible for managing Balance Transfers and Rate Sales across all of Citi’s Proprietary and Co-Branded Card portfolios. Balcon is the pre-dominant product in the Lending portfolio. The Product Manager will be responsible to deliver Sales volumes and grow portfolio balances, Revenues and EBIT. This individual will be responsible for defining the product strategy and driving execution by working with a large cross functional team of partners to improve portfolio performance, expand reach to new universes and to modernize and digitize the product.

Key Responsibilities

Portfolio Strategy and Growth:

  • Own the strategy and drive implementation plan for all Branded Cards portfolios. 
  • Deliver Plan Sales, ANR, Revenue, and EBIT commitments. Identify and execute opportunities to enhance profitability and returns.
  • Identify, assess, and actively advocate for new investments (tech, marketing) to build features to  digitize and modernize the products and expand the business profitably, supported by robust business cases.

Product Innovation:

  • Consumer Needs: Design, lead and analyze all market research including comprehensive attitude and usage studies, and any product or innovation related research to ensure deeper understanding of customers, with eye towards understanding and solving for unmet needs
  • Competitive Landscape: Lead all work on competitive analysis and research deep diving into competitive strategy including competitive economics, offer strategy,
  • Value proposition: Enhance the value proposition by developing capabilities and solutions in close partnership with Card product teams e.g. greater product availability by implementing an “always on” approach. Partner with Technology and Digital teams to implement a seamless experience, applying design principles of speed, simplicity, and instant fulfillment in developing best-in-class journeys and experiences.

Marketing Optimization:

  • Optimization: Partner with Marketing, Risk, and Analytics and other Lending Product managers to implement segmentation, pricing and response models to optimize response and profitability. Test and Learn: Work with the channel teams to leverage creative test results and lead the design of a framework to continuously incorporate best practices, and create a disciplined test agenda that builds on previous learnings
  • Universe Expansion: Identify and execute on new opportunities to further promote and optimize our offers through the lending continuum. Collaborate with Risk Management to implement programs aligned with our risk appetite framework and achieve the best Risk Return trade off.

Team Management, Work Structuring:

  • Motivate and grow team of professionals to accomplish established goals and conduct personnel duties for the team (e.g. performance evaluations, hiring and disciplinary actions) as well as negotiate and make decisions on issues/activities having critical impact/influence on the portfolio

Controls:

  • Enhance the overall control environment and ensure appropriate governance of Balcon and Rate Sales as lending products. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required with 15+ years of experience. MBA a plus.
  • Proven track-record of delivering results and managing teams that execute with excellence. 
  • Strategic thinker who can define the overall business strategy and detailed tactical plan as well as get buy in from partners to execute said plan.
  • Deep knowledge, insights, understanding of customer needs, market, industry players and performance, strategies, products/services of key competitors.
  • Strong people leader with proven track record of structuring work, coaching talent and growing team members' skills and capabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships with a broad range of stakeholders across the franchise in order to drive to common goals and outcomes.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), excellent listening and influencing skills at all levels, particularly with Marketing, Analytical, Risk and Tech colleagues; ability to flex styles sufficiently to ensure alignment and buy-in to planning and prioritization
  • Strong understanding of product architecture, backend systems, data dependencies, and front-end interfaces that support the structure, marketing and end to end operation of the Balance Transfer product.
  • Change agent with proven ability to drive innovation and transform or materially change the business trajectory. Ability to boldly challenge the status quo and constructively encourage team to drive change and continuous improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize, prioritize and drive results with a high sense of urgency.
  • Demonstrated ability to frame and tackle large, complex problems and lead to solutions under time pressure.

$170,000.00 - $300,000.00
