POSITION SUMMARY
We are looking for a resilient, high-energy, experienced Media Operations Lead who will report to the company's Senior Manager for Media Operations underneath the VP of Strategic Communications. Axiom Space's Strategic Communications Group designs and executes integrated strategic communication strategies to protect and enhance the company's local, national and international reputation, enhancing its position as the world's leading commercial developer and operator of human spaceflight-rated space infrastructure and capabilities through the distribution of compelling content across a variety of digital and traditional mediums. This position works closely with members of the communications and marketing teams and requires a positive attitude, deep understanding of and passion for media relations, strong instincts around what it takes to pitch and place a story with top-tier media, and the ability to work in close collaboration with several teams. This position does not have supervisory responsibility. This position is located at Axiom Space Headquarters in Houston Texas with 10-15% travel anticipated.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide support to strategic communications, assisting Axiom Space target internal and external audiences with key messaging
Provide support in telling Axiom Space story in digital and video formats, including but not limited to produced content, live feed and webcast
Pitch stories to news media, prioritizing national, high-priority and international media outlets in support of the company's lines of effort, business objectives
Facilitate media relations/engagements at key events
Monitor, measure and report out on media coverage; stay current on news developments
Support a media training program for Axiom Space subject matter experts
Write and edit media pitches and advisories, rapid response statements, messaging, talking points, fact sheets, and other media relations materials
Manage film crews and reporters covering Axiom Space at Axiom Space facilities and offsite engagements
Maintain media lists
Develop and execute media relations plans and tactics that reflect and support the company's overall communications goals
Develop and maintain relationships with local, regional, national, and international media outlets
Work closely with partners across the communications and marketing team to coordinate communications efforts and ensure consistent cross-channel messaging
Perform additional job duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience
Master’s degree (preferably in communications) from an accredited institution, 7+ years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in communications, journalism or related field, and a track record of success in media relations
Demonstrated ability to understand an organization's mission, values, goals and priorities and ensure all are considered in developing communications strategies
Proven experience in media relations and full understanding of how to navigate social media tools and audiences
Proven experience in addressing media needs related to several high-priority audiences and ability to balance competing priorities
Self-starter with ability to independently execute communications priorities
Utmost adherence to confidentiality and business ethics; demonstrated outstanding judgment and discretion
Familiarity with human spaceflight is a plus
Track record of delivering in ambiguous, fast-moving environments under tight deadlines

Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation
