Let’s talk about this role 

As a Software Development Manager, you will provide leadership within the Engineering team and play a key role in driving and shaping business decisions throughout the division. This is a 2-year Fixed Term Contract working on critical projects in nib Thrive.
 

Some other key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Lead and Inspire: Oversee and mentor a high-performing team of engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement

  • Strategic Partnerships: Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, and stakeholders to ensure alignment and deliver impactful solutions

  • Drive Business Outcomes: Take ownership of initiatives that directly contribute to our business goals, leveraging your strong business acumen and stakeholder management skills.

  • Technical Excellence: Promote and enforce development standards, ensuring the highest quality of our software products

  • Innovation and Problem-Solving: Contribute your expertise to building innovative solutions and delivery plans that align with our strategic objectives

  • Mentorship and Development: Coach and guide less experienced engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth

  • Collaboration and Partnership: Work closely with product teams to shape future initiatives and ensure timely delivery of high-quality work

Let’s talk about you 

With previous experience leading a multi-disciplinary and high-performing Engineering team, other skills and experience that will help set you up for success include:

  • A passion about driving continuous improvement within product development and achieving reliable delivery output

  • Expertise in the software development practices in cross-functional teams

  • Ability to present to a wide range of audiences, from Executive Leadership teams to individual development teams, and wider stakeholders in the business

  • Ability to communicate all things technology to both technical and non-technical stakeholders alike

  • Experience taking strategic business goals and turning them into technology strategy and roadmap that aligns with architectural approach

  • Experience in ensuring the right resourcing and skillsets are in place to execute on this strategy and implementing successes measurements

  • Experience managing contractor teams

  • Experience building AWS cloud native APIs and front-ends (Angular/React)

  • Experience with .NET/Typescript
