About the Internship Program

Generac’s Internship Program is full-time (40 hours per week) from May/June to August, 2026. The program will be on-site, with positions in the following locations: Waukesha, WI (headquarters); Pewaukee, WI; plant locations throughout Wisconsin.

Generac’s Intern position is responsible to work with other engineers to fulfill special requests related to the digital solutions used in our manufacturing process.   Under supervision of engineers, the intern will have the opportunity to create manufacturing applications, Power BI reports, OPC-UA based machine connections, API connections, and dashboards.  Participants develop technical skills through challenging assignments and usage of technical tools. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a BS degree in computer science, data science, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, or related field.

  • Understanding or working knowledge of discrete manufacturing workflows

  • Exposure to MES, ERP, supply chain systems, or industrial data platforms

  • Experience with visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Python visualization libraries

  • Experience preparing analytical summaries and presentations for technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Demonstrated understanding of data pipeline concepts including ingestion, transformation, storage, and analysis

  • Proficiency in data analysis and scripting languages such as Python, R, Julia, or similar languages

  • Microsoft Office experience (including Excel).

  • Proficient oral and written communication and able to write clearly and succinctly to get a message across.

  • Ability to work FULL-TIME during the Summer – 40 Hour Week; Potential For Work Over Breaks


    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Completion of Junior Year

    Roles and Responsibilities:

    • Area of focus is MES app building and documentation, data analytics, and other duties as assigned.

    • Support the design, validation, and documentation of new digital solutions into the manufacturing process.

    • Provides new solution development support in the Industrial and Residential production sites including creating scopes of work, technical documentation and training materials.

    • Supporting change requests to current digital solutions (scope of work, project plan, cost); Interfacing with internal company personnel; provide technical support for assigned projects.

    • Interface with IT data team for data lake refinement

    • Create and modify Power Bi dashboards

    • Integrate systems utilizing APIs

    • Travels to other Generac facilities as necessary

    • Other duties as assigned.

    Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk.  On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
