About the Role:

We're looking for a highly technical Software Development Manager who can drive technical projects and provide leadership for a group of engineers in an innovative and fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for the overall planning, execution, and success of the projects.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Drive innovation and manage technical projects.

  • Integrates functional strategies and develops specific objectives for function

  • Operates at both a tactical and a strategic level. Regularly interacts with senior management on matters concerning several functional areas, divisions, and/or customers.

  • Provide technical guidance, career development, and mentoring to team members

  • Assign areas of ownership, ensure engineers have clear priorities and adequate resources

  • Maintain high morale and motivate engineers to go above and beyond

  • Daily management of objectives, priorities, trade-offs, risk, and performance management of all reporting staff.

  • Participate in architecture discussions and planning with Product Management and Engineering.

  • Develops departmental budget, expense, and staffing planning.

  • Communicate status, risks, and offer mitigation strategies to ensure on-time delivery of all committed projects to cross-functional teams and high-level management.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Experience will be evaluated based on alignment to the core competencies for the role.

  • Min 12-15 years software development experience with a distinguished track record on technically demanding projects

  • Min 3-5 years relevant experience managing large, fast-paced, and dynamic engineering teams.

  • Experience in managing complex projects that require a deep understanding of the application logic and dependencies

  • Strong technical skills in Object-Oriented Programming and server-side development. Expertise in Java is preferred.

  • Establish credibility with smart engineers quickly.

  • Ability to motivate people, instill accountability and achieve results

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, impeccable organizational and time management skills

  • Agile, proactive, comfortable working with ambiguous specifications, and can prioritize on the fly.

  • Experience in short release cycles, the full software lifecycle, and have worked on a product that was actually released for public consumption

Desired Skills:

  • Experience in building API’s and data integration platforms.

  • Experience in building software based on messaging/eventing flows.

  • Experience in agile development methodologies such as scrum.

  • Prior development or management experience with cloud computing platforms.

  • Bachelor's Degree required, Master’s preferred. CS or EE preferred.
