Under general direction, the Developer III will code and test application programs, provide application support to internal customers and update simple and complex system configuration artifacts. The Developer III will also produce business requirements and functional and technical specifications and execute system integration test plans and estimates. The Developer III will participate and assist in production implementations, software and technology evaluations, creating business cases, project plans and very complex system configuration artifacts.

Key Responsibilities:

Produce assigned deliverables:

  • Application program code (including testing and debugging code at the unit test level)

  • Application support (including after hours and on-call 24/7 coverage on a  rotational basis)

  • Updated system configuration artifacts (simple - e.g. forms, and complex – e.g. products)

  • Business requirements

  • Functional and technical specifications

  • Executed system integration test plans and results documentation

  • Estimates

Participate and assist in producing assigned deliverables:

  • System configuration artifacts (very complex - e.g. rates)

  • Production implementation plans

  • Production implementations with Production Technical Services, Operations and other application staff.

  • System Technical designs

  • Solutions Recommendations

  • System Integration Test Plans

  • Project Plans

  • Software and technology evaluations

  • Business Cases

Demonstrate an understanding of the Arbella software development life cycle.

Maintain a detailed knowledge of the applications assigned.

Maintain proficiency in the specific programming languages and development tools needed to support assigned applications.

Lead project sub-teams (e.g. test teams).

Assist in leading small and medium sized development efforts.

Develop a detailed knowledge of insurance products and forms.

Develop a detailed knowledge of insurance billing and rating processes.

Train, coach and mentor team members.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Information Systems preferred.

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience.

  • 5+ years of experience in BI development with Business Objects, Informatica, and Power BI

  • 3+ years of experience with Power BI Service Management (workspaces, refresh schedules)

  • Knowledge of scripting languages (Python or R) for advanced analytics

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices for BI deployments

  • Advanced relational DB experience (like MS-SQL, Oracle, MySQL)

  • Familiarity with Azure or AWS for hosting BI solutions

  • Property and Casualty Insurance domain experience

Our current reasonable and good faith estimate of the annual salary wage range for this position is approximately $80,900 -$120,000 based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills and experience, educational background and certifications, performance and qualifications, market demand for the role and other organizational needs.
