This role will be working with the Caterpillar Medium Speed Engine business, Information Technology, and external vendors to maintain, optimize and develop the infrastructure and application landscape. This position requires that the candidate has a mix of technical expertise, analytical skills, business acumen and good communication abilities.

The main responsibility of the candidate will be in the PLM ( Product Lifecycle Management ) server, database and application environment. Candidates typically have knowledge of database technologies, programming, cloud computing, and process understanding.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• System Analysis & Business Requirements
  • Gather, analyze, and document business requirements from stakeholders.
  • Translate business needs into IT solutions, ensuring they align with company goals.
  • Conduct gap analysis to identify areas for system improvements
• Application & System Support
  • Provide technical support and troubleshoot software, applications, and IT systems.
  • Monitor system performance, security, and reliability.
  • Manage software updates, patches, and enhancements.
• IT Infrastructure & Security
  • Assist in network, database, and server management to ensure smooth IT operations.
  • Ensure data security and compliance with industry regulations (e.g., GDPR, ISO 27001).
  • Identify and mitigate potential cybersecurity risks.
• Data Analysis & Reporting
  • Extract, analyze, and interpret data to support business decision-making.
  • Use BI tools like Power BI, Tableau, or SQL queries to create reports and dashboards.
  • Help improve data accuracy and integrity.
• Project Management & Implementation
  • Work in IT projects, including system upgrades, cloud migrations, and application rollouts.
  • Collaborate with other teams in software development and deployment.
• Vendor & Stakeholder Management
  • Work with third-party vendors for software procurement, integrations, and licensing.
  • Act as a liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders.
• Innovation & Continuous Improvement
  • Stay up to date with emerging IT trends, automation, and AI solutions.
  • Recommend process improvements and new technologies to optimize efficiency.
  • Assist in adopting cloud computing, DevOps, or AI-driven solutions.

Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or other related field of study; OR any combination of relevant equivalent experience, education and training
• 3- 5+ years experience within the PLM environment, Systems & data concepts ( PTC Workgroup Manager / Windchill / Creo / Creo View / AutoCAD / MS SQL, Oracle)
• Strong knowledge of engineering processes & workflows
• Experience with programming languages (Java, Phyton,XML, VBScript, AutoLISP, C#, PowerShell)
• Experience with APIs and JSON
• Data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, ThoughtSpot)
• Superior organizational skills, with a disciplined approach to implementation, support and documentation
• Strong analytical skills
• Project management skills
• Fluent speaking and writing in German and English
