The Hilb Group is currently seeking a motivated and ambitious ­­­­­Claims Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be motivated to succeed, is well organized, able to prioritize, and able to work well with a team. This is a hybrid position reporting to the Uniondale, NY office.

Responsibilities:

  • Report new claims electronically and telephonically.

  • Understand the different types of insurance policies to report claims accurately.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external clients.

  • Manage claims in AMS360/IR system according to department standards and best practices.

  • To distribute incoming postal mail that has been scanned.

  • Obtain adjuster information on newly reported claims.

  • Attaching claims acknowledgements.

  • Run daily reports and distribute accordingly.

  • Run reports based on information required.

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge of insurance policies and what they cover.

  • Ability to understand written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.

  • Skill in the operation of modern office equipment.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Excellent customer services skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to effectively work on the telephone to obtain insurance information.

  • Ability to work in a team environment.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of people.

  • Ability to manage time efficiently and effectively.

  • Ability to follow through on tasks.

  • Ability to adapt to change

  • Prior office administrative experience

  • H.S. Diploma or GED equivalent
