Principal Software Engineer F/T
Overview
Develop, execute, and lead the Automation planning, Scripting, and maintenance strategy.
Role.
• Design and develop a reusable architecture for the automation with API- and messaging-based test frameworks for various repeatable tests, including reusability and maintainability of the test scripts.
• Collaborate in creating overall QA Program estimates for feature teams.
• Lead automation development and optimization of those programs/scripts/tools/cases.
• Manage the execution of automated tests and their automated programs/scripts integration with the test management tool and CI/CD tools.
• Direct and mentor QA Leads and team members using the automation framework and scripts.
• Perform analyses to solve complex problems and motivate peers to produce creative products and services.
• Create strategies and plans to adopt and maintain the automation scripts and Test data.
• Collaborate in overall automation effort, influencing the direction, effort, schedule, and prioritization.
About You
• Position requires a bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electronic Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering or related and eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in job offered or as a System Test Engineer, Quality Assurance Engineer, or related.
• Qualifying experience must include at least one (1) year with each of the following: Java/J2EE; Performance engineering with JMeter; Chaos Engineering with Chaos Monkey; Test automation; Playwright; REST assured; GitHub Copilot or Gemini Code Assist and Financial Services experience in transactional applications.
• Telecommuting and/or working from home may be permissible pursuant to company policies.
• 25% Travel to other Mastercard locations domestic and international as well as travel to conferences.

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay Ranges
O'Fallon, Missouri: $170,000 - $281,000 USD
