The Opportunity

The Financial Systems Specialist will report to the Vice President, Finance and is the internal owner and subject matter expert for the organization’s financial systems, including Workday Financial Management and PointClickCare. This role ensures financial systems are optimized to support business objectives, financial controls, and operational efficiency while maintaining data integrity.

In this position, you will oversee and coordinate a third-party service provider responsible for system configuration, enhancements, integrations, and technical support. You will also play a key role in fostering an environment that promotes a culture of resident safety, quality care, and freedom from harm.

What You Will Do:

Finance Systems Ownership & Governance

  • Serve as the internal AgeCare owner for Workday Financial Management and other finance-related systems, including PointClickCare.

  • Define system strategy, priorities, and roadmaps in collaboration with Finance, Operations, IT leadership, and third-party service providers.

  • Ensure systems align with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational operational needs.

Finance Systems Project Oversight

  • Lead and oversee finance systems initiatives, including implementations, upgrades, integrations, enhancements, and process improvements.

  • Develop project scopes, objectives, timelines, and success criteria in partnership with stakeholders and vendors.

  • Coordinate project activities across Finance, IT, Operations, and external partners.

  • Monitor project progress, risks, issues, and dependencies, escalating concerns as appropriate.

  • Ensure effective testing, user acceptance, and change management for all system enhancements.

Third-Party Vendor Management

  • Manage relationships with third-party service providers supporting Workday and other finance systems.

  • Translate finance and operational requirements into clear, actionable specifications.

  • Review, validate, and approve vendor deliverables, configurations, and documentation.

  • Monitor vendor performance, service levels, and adherence to project timelines.

Integrations & Data Management

  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reconciliation across integrated systems.

  • Partner with IT and vendors to identify and resolve integration and data issues.

Financial Close, Reporting & Controls

  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities from a systems perspective.

  • Ensure reporting tools and outputs meet the needs of Finance leadership and operational teams.

  • Support audits, internal controls, and compliance by ensuring systems are properly configured and governed.

User Support & Communication

  • Act as the primary liaison between Finance, Operations, IT, and vendors for finance systems and related initiatives.

  • Coordinate end-user training, communications, and documentation for system changes.

  • Facilitate user acceptance testing and post-implementation reviews.

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or a related field.

  • 3+ years of experience in finance systems, financial operations, or systems project coordination.

  • Experience with Workday Financial Management.

  • Demonstrated experience overseeing projects and managing third-party service providers.

  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
