Position Summary

The Local Driver is a commercially focused CDL professional who operates within a local service area and returns home each day. This role is essential to supporting BOT Auto's local operations and may include ADS-equipped equipment depending on assignment

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a commercial motor vehicle on local routes within a 70-hour work week
  • Support local operational needs, including equipment moves, yard support, and transport as assigned
  • Operate ADS-equipped equipment when assigned, following applicable data-collection or support protocols
  • Maintain accurate daily logs and vehicle inspection reports
  • Coordinate daily assignments with the Dispatch

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of three (3) years of verifiable employment history
  • Minimum of three (3) years of verifiable commercial motor vehicle driving experience
  • Current, valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
  • Clean driving record: no more than one (1) moving violation or one (1) accident within the last three (3) years (combined violations and accidents not to exceed two (2) in a three-year period)
  • Must pass a road test and demonstrate proficiency operating all equipment/trailers used by BOT Auto
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Subject to all DOT drug and alcohol testing requirements (pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion, and post-accident); passing a DOT physical and DOT/SAMHSA drug screen is a condition of employment
  • Reliable availability for daily local dispatch within a 14-hour workday window, including occasional evenings and weekends as operational needs required
  • English proficiency required: must be able to read, speak, and understand English sufficiently to communicate with the public, understand highway traffic signs and signals, respond to official inquiries, and complete required reports and records, per federal DOT requirements (49 CFR 391.11(b)(2))

Safety & Compliance Expectations

  • Maintain accurate, timely Hours of Service logs (49 CFR Part 395) using the company's Electronic Logging Device (ELD) system
  • Complete thorough Pre-Trip and Post-Trip Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs) for every vehicle operated
  • Comply with all BOT Auto's Safety policies
  • Cooperate fully with roadside and CVSA inspections and report results per company procedure
  • Report all accidents, incidents, citations, and DOT inspections to the Safety Department as required
