Manager – Group Controllership Organization


IDEX is a publicly traded and decentralized manufacturing company with 100+ subsidiaries. We are seeking a talented and motivated Manager to join our Corporate Group Controllership team. The position primarily supports the oversight and coordination between our Corporate office and the subsidiaries / business units from an accounting perspective.  The position is involved in the monthly / quarterly close process and accounting matters impacting the subsidiaries / business units. This position allows for excellent exposure and growth within the organization and reports to the Director, Group Controller. The position will be based in our Northbrook office with occasional work in our downtown Chicago office.  We are currently in a hybrid model with 3 days in the office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage lease accounting for both the business units and Corporate as well as perform monthly SOX controls
  • Support the “help desk” process for business units with accounting or policy questions
  • Manage the intercompany profit in inventory elimination process
  • Review and compile results of physical inventories completed by subsidiaries / business units
  • Manage Lower of Cost or Market testing by subsidiaries / business units
  • Participate and assist in preparing for the quarterly accounting webcasts that disseminate information to subsidiaries / business units
  • Support communication of annual accrual frequency process
  • Manage and review the yearly accounting form submitted by subsidiaries / business units which notifies Corporate of key accounting events such as dates of inventory cost updates, physical inventories, etc.
  • Assist in the IDEX Corporate monthly consolidated financial statement preparation and reporting
  • Ad hoc reporting such as Hart Scott Rodino (HSR), Census and other governmental reporting, and Conflict Minerals
  • Provide support to internal and external auditors during the quarterly/annual close processes
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and assist in the completion of the project(s)
  • Attend training, seminars and workshops as deemed necessary
  • Perform other related duties / special projects as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • CPA preferred
  • ~5 years of progressive accounting experience with preferably at least 3-4 years in public accounting/audit; manufacturing experience is a plus
  • Knowledge of current US GAAP
  • Strong work ethic
  • Critical thinker, with an eye for process optimization
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and be detail-oriented
  • Self-starter, results oriented, willingness to learn
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.)
  • Experience with OneStream, JDE, and CoStar are a plus
