This internship is based in Amsterdam within ING Wholesale Banking Finance and focuses on supporting the Financial Reporting – Wholesale Banking team in maintaining accurate financial reporting and control processes.
Purpose of the Role
The intern will gain practical experience in:
Financial analysis and reporting
Accounting and finance controls
Data quality management
Process improvement
Stakeholder collaboration within an international banking environment
Key Responsibilities
Support monthly and quarterly analysis of balance sheet and profit & loss movements.
Assist with financial control activities, reconciliations, and completeness checks.
Collect, validate, and document financial data and control evidence.
Help identify and implement process improvements.
Coordinate follow-up actions with finance stakeholders and prepare status updates.
Complete an internship research project or professional assignment linked to a financial control challenge.
About the Team
The team is part of ING Netherlands Finance and is responsible for the accuracy of accounting and reporting for Wholesale Banking entities. It works closely with Finance, Risk, and other stakeholders, combining reporting oversight, analysis, controls, and continuous improvement activities.
The ideal candidate:
Is pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
Has strong analytical skills and an interest in financial reporting and controls.
Is proficient in Excel (PowerPoint and data-analysis tools are beneficial).
Is detail-oriented, structured, and communicative.
Speaks English well; Dutch is a plus but not required.
Is proactive, curious, and able to handle confidential information responsibly.
