At Vera Bradley, a Principal Data Engineer works as a highly collaborative senior technical professional to design and build our data infrastructure, as well as consulting with colleagues and partners on how best to apply and gain insights from our data. This role contributes to profitable growth by supporting both sales increases and cost savings, achieved with tools and processes maintained and/or built by the data team.

Responsibilities

· Design, build, and maintain the infrastructure that enables the collection, storage, processing, and analysis of large volumes of data, including data pipelines and data architecture on the Azure platform using SQL Server and other technologies

· Develop data integration solutions to bring together disparate data sources, coherently

· Deploy data quality and data governance processes to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and compliance in the context of the retail industry

· Support retail data and analytics product discovery, consulting to align technical approaches that support desired process and features

· Support efforts to develop insights from data to drive business growth and success, across teams

· Stay current with best practices in data engineering, data architecture, and Azure cloud computing

· Establish and instruct on architectural, development and documentation standards, and best practices

· Mentor team members and share knowledge

Skills & Experience

· Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field

· 8+ years of experience in Azure and SQL Server data engineering and architecture

· Exceptional knowledge of SQL Server database administration, data modeling, and data warehousing

· Deep experience on the Azure platform, including Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, etc.

· Retail industry experience, especially with data pipelines, architecture, governance, quality, and security

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

· Ability to design, build, and maintain scalable and reliable data pipelines and architecture

· Strong communication and collaboration skills

· Experience using agile software development practices

· Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize short- and long-term projects at the same time

Base Pay Range:

$104,300.00 - $156,500.00

Vera Bradley’s compensation ranges are based on market data and comply with all local, state and federal regulations. Individual pay within the listed range depends on work location, skills, experience, and relevant education. The posted salary reflects base pay only and excludes bonuses, equity, or other incentives, if applicable.
