About the Department


The Data Centre of Enablement is a key part of our Architecture and Data team within the CETO function. We are responsible for enabling business stakeholders to realise the potential and value of abrdn’s data assets. Partnering with Business Teams, Product Teams, Delivery Domains, and other Centres of Enablement, we drive a deep understanding of abrdn’s data and ensure that we are doing the right things with our data. The Enterprise Data Model anchors all our activities, ensuring alignment and consistency across the organisation.

About the Role

As a Data Enablement Consultant, you will be an abrdn data expert, supporting governance and data quality outcomes across defined data domains. You will work closely with stakeholders across abrdn, building credible business partnerships and providing specialist knowledge, advice, and consultancy. You will ensure consistency in our approach to data, adopting policy, standards, definitions, best practices, and frameworks, while staying ahead of industry trends, data technology, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Consultancy: Provide data consultancy, support, and insights to enable teams across the business to apply policies, standards, and frameworks effectively. Anticipate business needs and respond accordingly.

  • Business Engagement: Support business stakeholders in ensuring data ownership, stewardship, and the application of best practices to drive meaningful outcomes and return on investment.

  • Best Practices and Standards: Communicate and embed Data Policies, Standards, and Frameworks aligned with industry best practices, ensuring teams adhere to these standards for consistency.

  • Data Cataloguing: Create and maintain data catalogues and models that are understood and utilised across the business.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Drive communication and collaboration among departments to ensure data is effectively understood, shared, and leveraged.

  • Data Expertise: Build domain expertise and act as a subject matter expert on data, understanding the costs and value of data solutions.

  • Feedback Loop: Establish mechanisms for gathering feedback to drive continuous improvement in data enablement efforts.

About the Candidate

  • Relevant industry qualifications and strong business knowledge.

  • Proven interpersonal skills, including stakeholder management and the ability to influence decision-makers.

  • Experience with data ecosystems within Financial Services organisations.

  • Knowledge of data modelling concepts and Agile delivery methodologies.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into specialist guidance and advice.

  • Ability to think strategically and maintain a customer-focused, commercially aware approach.
