Description:

Manager - Facilities Operations

The Manager directs the activities of the Engineering and Maintenance and Grounds Departments, including the establishment of policies and procedures, determining and ensuring standards, and coordinating the efforts of the departments with all areas of the “on” and “off-site” Medical Center and the Network, with the goal of maintaining and upgrading the highest quality facilities, services, utilities, buildings, and grounds to meet and/or exceed the goals and values set forth by the Medical Center’s mission.

Top responsibilities include:

  • Authoritatively hires/fires and disciplines staff
  • Appraises staff performance
  • Monitors annual departmental budget
  • Insures adherence to hospital and departmental safety and QA policies
  • Ensures safety in construction and renovation efforts in the hospital

This is a full time position located at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens.

Required Criteria

  • High school diploma plus completion of mechanical or technical school; should have attended seminars on Building Systems, and/or Regulatory issues as they apply to Healthcare Facilities.
  • Must have a comprehensive knowledge of all phases of building trades, hand and power tools, meter, test equipment and machinery, and all related supplies and equipment gained through at least 6 years experience in any combination of building trades.
  • Of the 6 years’ experience, three must be in a Healthcare setting.
  • Required basic supervisory abilities in a union environment.
  • Additionally requires a high level of physical exertion and demands, such as lifting, climbing ladders, crouching, reaching, bending, kneeling, and stretching.
  • Must maintain confidentiality at all times.

  • Water management for both cooling towers and domestic water systems

$143,500-$185,000/Annual
