As a part of the global industrial organization Marmon Holdings—which is backed by Berkshire Hathaway—you’ll be doing things that matter, leading at every level, and winning a better way. We’re committed to making a positive impact on the world, providing you with diverse learning and working opportunities, and fostering a culture where everyone’s empowered to be their best.

Under broad supervision, responsible for a range of moderately complex engineering tasks in new product development projects associated with design proposals, testing, feasibility analysis, mathematical modeling, sample building, manufacturing processes assessment, etc. to develop and implement new methods, designs and products. Writes engineering specifications and interprets/analyses test results. Role typically requires between 3 and 5 years of experience.

Mandatory Skills:

  • 3-6 years’ experience in design and development of plastic injection-molded and sheet-metal components, applying DFM/DFA principles to support high-volume manufacturing.
  • Experience in leading end-to-end mechanical product development from concept through production, ensuring compliance with performance, cost, and quality objectives.
  • Experience in performing tolerance stack-up, fitment, and clearance analysis to ensure functional and assembly requirements are met.
  • Experience in supporting prototype builds, pilot runs, and production ramp-up, including resolution of design- and process-related issues.
  • Strong communication & interpersonal skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

Desired Skills:

  • Develop new merchandising products and components using plastics and sheet metal materials.
  • Create 3D models, assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings, renderings using CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor).
  • Generate multiple design iterations balancing performance, manufacturability, cost, and retail aesthetics.
  • Participate in ideation sessions and translate customer insights into engineering concepts.
  • Work with internal teams or external vendors to produce prototypes using methods such as 3D Printing, vacuum forming, injection molding, laser cutting, bending, and sheet‑metal fabrication.
  • Conduct structural and functional tests (fit, form, durability, load testing, environmental).
  • Implement design improvements based on test results and feedback.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, procurement, quality, and supply‑chain teams to develop cost‑effective, manufacturable designs.
  • Support suppliers by providing clear specifications, design intent, and engineering guidance.
  • Participate in DFMEA, PFMEA, and validation processes.
  • Create fully detailed engineering drawings, BOMs, material specs, tolerance stacks, and revision controls.
  • Support projects from concept to pilot run to production release.
  • Trouble‑shoot field issues or production problems and implement design corrections.
  • Improve legacy designs for cost reduction, quality, sustainability, or performance upgrades.
  • Strong proficiency in plastics (injection molding, thermoforming) and sheet‑metal fabrication (cutting, punching, bending, welding).
  • Knowledge of material properties (ABS, polycarbonate, HDPE, PETG, steel, aluminium, coatings).
  • Understanding of DFM, DFA, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and mechanical design principles.
  • CAD software (SolidWorks preferred in merchandising/fixture industry).
  • Simulation tools (FEA/structural analysis) — optional but valuable.

Opportunities for Growth

  • Opportunity to own complex mechanical designs from concept through production with increased technical responsibility.
  • Ability to grow into a technical lead role, guiding design decisions and mentoring junior engineers.
  • Exposure to advanced materials, manufacturing processes, and design optimization techniques.
  • Increased involvement in cross-functional and supplier collaboration on high-impact programs.
  • Opportunity to influence design standards, best practices, and product platforms.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. 3 to 6 years of experience in New product design & development, VA/VE, cost optimization, or related engineering roles.
  • A seasoned, result-oriented engineer who can work independently once given direction, has good rapport with coworkers, can listen, be creative, and is detailed oriented.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail, accuracy, and flexibility to adapt quickly to changing business needs and project priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly, collaborate effectively across functions, and work both independently and in team leadership roles.
  • Maintains a good attitude, persistence, and drive focused on finding a way to accomplish the objectives.
  • Willing to travel within or outside India as and when needed (about 10% of travelling per year)

Following receipt of a conditional offer of employment, candidates will be required to complete additional job-related screening processes as permitted or required by applicable law.
