With a commitment to operational excellence, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Facility Maintenance Operations to lead our team and ensure the seamless management of a large-scale facility in San Diego.

Position Overview:

The Director of Facility Maintenance Operations will oversee all aspects of facility management, focusing on maintaining critical systems and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. This role is pivotal in supporting a high-performance environment for life sciences operations, including laboratories, research centers, and cleanrooms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement maintenance programs to ensure operational efficiency, reliability, and safety of facility systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and specialized laboratory equipment.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant codes, standards, and regulations, including GMP, FDA, and ISO guidelines specific to the life sciences industry.
  • Team Management: Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of facility technicians and support staff, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
  • Budget Oversight: Manage budgets, negotiate contracts with vendors, and monitor expenses to achieve cost-effective operations.
  • Emergency Response: Develop and maintain emergency response plans to address potential risks, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Client Interaction: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing their needs and ensuring satisfaction with facility services.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in facility maintenance operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the life sciences industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of building systems, cleanroom environments, and laboratory infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of GMP, FDA, and ISO regulations.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven track record of managing large teams and complex facility operations.
