Job Description​

The opportunity:

We are hiring a Registered Nurse Scheduling Coordinator for our Neurosciences clinics at the Plaza.

The Shift:

This is a full time Monday through Friday day shift position.

The Work:

The RN Scheduling Coordinator facilitates the neuroscience referral process by receiving referrals from multiple referral sources within and without the St. Luke's Health System, performs initial evaluation of referral for neuroscience appropriateness under Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance regulations, determines need for additional information from referral sources, communicates agency acceptance or decline of referral to varied referral sources, and processes accepted referrals.

  • This position requires a nurse who is self-directed and functions independently.
  • Facilitates and promotes the neuroscience services.
  • Assesses, develops a scheduling plan, reviews that plan with the multidisciplinary team and implements the plan for scheduling, ensuring the patient is scheduled at the correct location and the correct day, time and provider.
  • Participates regularly in the evaluation of the scheduling process to ensure the patient is placed in the safest environment possible.
  • Provides specialized support for the Patient Accounting and Finance departments.
  • Serves as liaison between the patient and facility/physician and the third-party payer.
  • Prepares and defends level of care and medical necessity for assigned case.
  • Collaborates with physician advisor, payor representative and site case managers to facilitate appropriate level of care decisions and billing status and ensures compliance with the Utilization Review standard and regulations.
  • Ensures compliance with neuroscience face to face requirements.
  • Serves as an agent to improve customer service and provide a layer of safety throughout the scheduling process.
  • Delegates tasks appropriately, responsible for training and education of employees in this area once full orientation process is complete.
  • Evaluates resources needed to safely perform the designated procedure/appointment requiring advanced clinical knowledge, critical thinking and communication skills.
  • Periodically participates in remote on-call, evenings, and weekends.
  • May require some travel. 
  • 2 years plus RN experience strongly preferred.
