The Group Finance team provides financial support, insights and advice to the CEO, CFO, Executive Leadership Team and Board including Group Results presentation and the Annual report. We support the Group’s strategy of building tomorrow’s bank today for our customers, through a focus on three key priorities of trust, resilience and capital generation. 

 

The Capital & Regulatory Reporting Crew is responsible for providing capital and reporting guidance and overseeing the delivery of all capital and reporting changes.  This includes changes for system upgrades and enhancements; risk modelling updates; new or variations to products; and changes to internal reporting.

This role will report directly to the Executive Manager, Regulatory Reporting Decision Support. 
 
Your role is to support the Regulatory Reporting Decision Support team and Statutory and the Regulatory Reporting team in ensuring that we have a clear understanding of the APRA regulatory reporting requirements, we analyse and remediate issues with the returns in a timely manner and work with business areas to review the regulatory reporting logic and assumptions.

The Business Analyst will be expected to perform the following tasks in a manner consistent with CBA's Values and People Capabilities: 

  • Deep dive into issues that are identified in the regulatory reporting process using tools such as SQL, AbInitio, Tableau and Alteryx  

  • Data analysis and visualisation of large datasets 

  • Drive and deliver continuous improvements to reporting processes and solutions 

  • Be a thought leader when it comes to using analytic techniques to drive business insights and enable data driven decisions across regulatory reporting 

  • Understand new business and regulatory requirements and implement the corresponding changes through collaborating with a broad range of stakeholders 

  • Champion and drive productivity (and process improvement) across the team, driving collaboration, coaching & recognition 

  • Develop and maintain strong stakeholder engagement, by collaborating with business units 

  • Work with Regulatory Reporting, technology and business stakeholders to resolve defects and identify enhancements. 

  • Support the Regulatory Reporting team by reviewing regulatory reporting assumptions and logic 

  • Promote a high-performance culture and provide excellent customer service 

 
We’re interested in hearing from people who: 

  • Have experience working in a role involving data analysis, insights and analytics within financial services 

  • Experience in financial and regulatory reporting, particularly in Group reporting highly regarded 

  • High attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills  

  • Strong analytical skills to understand, interpret and evaluate complex data and business processes 

  • Focus on process improvement and operational excellence 

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management  

  • Hands on knowledge of BI Tools, such as Tableau or Power BI desirable 

  • Experience with tools such as Alteryx is well regarded 

  • Business partnering skills and the ability to develop strong and trusting relationships across the organisation 

  • Strong numeracy and accounting skills with an understanding of financial products 

  • Customer focused and outcome driven. Drives an organisational culture that values customers and delivers customer satisfaction 

  • Understands business drivers and produces business valued output and analysis  

  • Exhibits a high level of energy and passion with respect to the opportunities and challenges within the finance function 

 
Essential 

  • At least 4 years’ post qualification experience in a finance role  

  • Strong numeracy and technical skills 

  • High degree of commercial acumen 

  • Experience with RDBMS (Teradata, Oracle, MS SQL Server) and using SQL or other data integration/ETL tools 

  • Tertiary qualification in one of the following: Finance, Accounting, Business-related discipline, or IT / Computer Science with exposure working in finance or reporting
