We enable consumers to engage in cross-border shopping and merchants to extend their global reach while reducing the complexity and friction involved in enabling cross-border trade.

Job Description Summary:

PayPal is committed to building and scaling the next generation of payment integration technologies for merchants, consumers, and developers globally. This team is part of the CTO’s organization and designing future-forward technologies and experiences to enable global commerce. Platform technologies built by this team will be instrumental in helping drive PayPal’s global reach through best-in-class technology solutions.

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director, Strategy & Operations to lead and scale operations that support global teams building next-generation infrastructure technologies and platforms for API adoption in global payment solutions. This leader will play a pivotal role in driving operational excellence, aligning cross-functional teams, and creating the processes and frameworks that enable seamless collaboration and execution across the organization.

Job Description:

As the Director, Strategy & Operations you will oversee planning, business reviews, and global discussions to ensure alignment and delivery on strategic goals. Your expertise in business analytics, operations, and global team management will be critical in enabling teams to build scalable, secure, and innovative platforms that meet the needs of developers and integrators worldwide.

Build and Execute Operational Strategy:

  • Develop and implement the operational strategy to support global teams building infrastructure technologies and platforms, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Partner with planning executives to drive annual and quarterly planning, goal setting, resource allocation, and budget management. Lead business reviews to evaluate progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Leverage business analytics and reporting to provide actionable insights that guide strategic decisions. Monitor key metrics to measure team performance, infrastructure scalability, and project success.
  • Proactively identify risks and dependencies across projects, developing mitigation plans to ensure timely and successful delivery of initiatives

Drive Global Scale:

  • Act as a central point of coordination for leadership updates, ensuring stakeholders are informed about progress, challenges, and outcomes.
  • Partner with product & engineering leaders to sustainably and continually monitoring KPIs like (but not limited to) time-to-market, customer satisfaction, integration quality.
  • Support geographically distributed teams with tailored frameworks and tools that address regional needs, regulatory requirements, and cultural considerations.
  • Collaborate with third-party vendors and external partners as needed to accelerate product and engineering delivery.

Team Leadership:

  • Build, mentor, and inspire a team of business operations leads, fostering a high-performance culture that prioritizes collaboration, innovation, and scalability.
  • Partner closely with engineering, design, data science, and operations teams to ensure alignment on business goals, product delivery, and customer satisfaction.
  • Represent the organization internally and externally with clarity and confidence, communicating the value and vision of the platform to senior executives, partners, and stakeholders.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of technical and business operations management, with at least 5 years leading operations teams focused on platform technologies.
  • Strong communication skills in English and ability to drive cross-functional leadership needed.
  • Prior experience in financial technologies, banking, finance sectors in global markets is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, operations, or a technical related field. MBA or equivalent advanced degree is strongly preferred.

The U.S. national annual pay range for this role is

$118700 to $246290
