The Labor and Delivery/Women and Newborn nurse cares for women and neonates during labor, childbirth, and postpartum care through discharge. They are responsible for assisting, supporting, and educating families throughout the birth process and postpartum period. They provide comprehensive, family centered nursing care to mothers and newborns during antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum stages. They educate and assist the new mother with her physical and emotional needs. They perform the dual role of caring for the infants and educating mothers about their care. The Labor and Delivery/Women and Newborn nurse must be able to recognize complications and act quickly to stabilize the situation and communicate with the patient, family, and appropriate physicians and specialists.Education:
▪ Required: Graduate of an accredited nursing program or NLN approved program
▪ Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
Experience:
▪ Preferred: Previous nursing experience

▪ Excellent verbal and written communication skills
▪ Demonstrate effective leadership abilities
▪ Exhibits valuable time management skills
▪ Strong critical thinking/problem solving skills.

Licensure/Certification/Registration:
▪ Required: RN license active in the state of Missouri
▪ Must obtain NRP within one year of hire
