Job Summary
The System Analyst (Software Developer Job Profile under PIPSC job classification) will support the development of software solutions for mission and safety-critical Air Traffic Management Software. The System Analyst’s activities will focus on software solutioning; completing designs and specifications to meet specific operational requirements. System Analyst’s activities shall be in accordance with all Corporate Safety and Quality policies and practices, and the Engineering Safety and Quality policies and practices. Work normally involves providing third-level technical and operational systems support, advice, and assistance to clients.

Key Accountabilities:
- Work closely with technologists, developers and testers in an Agile software development environment.
- Raise and triage of defects, and participation in defect management activities.
- Ensure high quality and accuracy is maintained through to software release including through following all applicable safety and quality standards and processes.
- Ensure project activities are conducted in a timely manner and following established processes.
- Prepare and maintain detailed plans, system designs, and specifications for the provision and implementation of systems to meet operational, technical and safety requirements.
- Support testers with drafting and/or validating test plans, test cases, and test scripts as required for operational validation.
- Support software certification activities.
- Provide prompt assistance when requested to investigate technical problems with in-service operational systems.
- Investigate solutions for end-of-life components.
- Act as a technical authority for software and / or application staff; resolve complex operations problems.
- Advise on functional requirements, such as standards, user and security, assist in conducting cost / benefit analysis, contribute to the conceptual and physical design of the projects, and lead implementation.
- Participate in and / or coordinate the design and implementation of changes and customer service enhancements.
Job Requirements
Education:
- Degree from a recognized university or community college with an acceptable specialization in computer, electrical engineering, systems engineering, computer science or information systems or an acceptable combination of education, related experience, and training.
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in systems Engineering.
- Background in computer systems and / or programming is an asset.
- Experience in project management is an asset.
Knowledge
- Knowledge of data and software development and testing process from preliminary design to formal testing and acceptance
- Knowledge of real-time Windows applications, databases, object-oriented design and development framework.
- Knowledge of mission critical software applications and systems.
- Knowledge of theory and principles of engineering science and of practices in specialized field of engineering.
Abilities
- Ability to apply knowledge and experience to develop new solutions, designs and plans.
- Ability to capture and document requirements clearly.
- Ability to identify problem areas, obtain and analyse data.
- Ability to devise and implement effective solutions.

Working conditions:
This position is based in Ottawa TSC (280 Hunt Club Rd., Ottawa, ON) and is classified as hybrid. Relocation will be required.
