Argonne National Laboratory is seeking a Community College Student intern to support event coordination, tour scheduling, and general administrative tasks within the Computing, Environment and Life Sciences (CE​LS) directorate. This internship is designed to provide broad exposure to laboratory operations and help build practical, transferable workplace skills.
This role will focus on:

  • Events & workshops support: Help plan and coordinate internal meetings, workshops, seminars, and other onsite events.
  • Tours & visitor support: Serve as a friendly point of contact to help visitors find their way and understand what to expect during their visit.
  • Administrative support: Provide backup support to other administrative staff as needed.

  • How a national laboratory plans and executes events, workshops, and visitor tours.
  • Professional communication and customer service in a mission-driven environment.
  • Administrative workflows (scheduling, records/document management, task tracking).
  • Team-based work practices, prioritization, and attention to detail.

Education and Experience Requirements

Applicants must be:

  • Currently enrolled in undergraduate studies at an accredited institution (or graduated from an accredited institution within the past 3 months)
  • Must be 18 years or older at the time the appointment begins.
  • Must possess a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • If accepting an offer, must pass a screening drug test
  • Must complete a satisfactory background check.
  • The entirety of the appointment must be conducted within the United States.
  • Access to a personal vehicle (needed to attend events/tours across the lab)

The expected hiring range for this position is $19.55-$24.44.
