Job Description: Inside Sales Representative

Job Summary:

An Inside Sales Representative (ISR) sells factoring services to freight carrier businesses. The ISR calls on carriers in our database to sell the carriers on the benefits of factoring with Trilogy. The ISR will attempt to leverage the reputation of our sister company, Syfan Logistics, to develop a report with the prospective carriers. The ISR will sell the carriers on the expertise of the Trilogy Team and the value-added benefits of factoring with Trilogy.

The Core Competencies for this position are:

  • Customer Service Excellence: Performs duties and demonstrates behaviors consistent with Syfan's/Trilogy’s commitment to customer service.

  • CRM/TMS Proficiency: Utilizes Trilogy’s customer relationship management platform (Salesforce) as well as Syfan's transportation management systems and other logistics technologies in executing the duties of the position.

  • Communication Skills & Problem Solving: Demonstrates strong communications skills (listening as well as speaking) to identify a carrier’s needs and goals, and then tailoring our sales pitch to address these needs and goals. These skills should be persuading/convincing, able to secure commitments for our factoring services.

  • Perseverance: The ISR must make many calls during the day to meet goals and expectations. Many of the calls will result in rejection. The ISR must be thick skinned with a determination to persevere through rejection by making more calls to meet their sales objectives.

  • Competitive and Self Motivated: Trilogy has an ambitious sales culture with a competitive and self-motivated Team. The ISR likewise will need to have a competitive spirit and a self-motivated nature.

  • Team Culture Alignment: Demonstrates interactive skills and behaviors that strengthen the team's ability to perform and work together cohesively.

Required Skills Summary:

  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills that include sales emotional intelligence, handling disruptive emotional situations with carriers and customers, and asking skillful questions.

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to make highly effective decisions in time-critical situations.

  • Negotiation skills, the Sales Conversation Process flow, and the sales Documentation Process.

  • Organization skills and detail orientation.

  • Basic computer proficiency for optimal sales performance using Microsoft Office, Salesforce, Syfan’s transportation management system, customer web sites, and basic keyboard proficiency.

  • Advanced knowledge of the highway systems, major cities, and all states.

  • Ability to positively influence and support team members.

Roles & Responsibilities Summary:

  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with current and prospective carriers through persistent contact by phone or email

  • Negotiates competitive rates for factoring with carriers across various regions

  • Monitors and tracks factoring opportunities from commitment to initial funding, helping to resolve issues and taking ownership of any problem situations

  • Works collaboratively with internal Factoring Sales (Trilogy), Carrier Sales (Syfan), Team Captains (Syfan) and Support team members to ensure customer needs are met

  • Updates salesforce CRM throughout the day to maintain accuracy in sales and volume data/information

  • Exceeds individual and team sales goals as assigned by management

  • Meets individual productivity goals (ex. phone calls made, contacts made, opportunities created, deals closed, etc.)

  • Independently plans and manages daily activities

Experience Requirements:

  • Preferred: 1 year of experience with or exposure to 3PL transportation/freight sales

Education Requirements:

  • Required: High School Diploma/GED equivalent

  • Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in transportation logistics/freight management or business related major

  • Preferred: Certified Transportation Brokerage certification

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

This job operates in a physical office environment and is largely a sedentary role. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands, arms and fingers to effectively operate computer equipment and handle and/or lift objects up to 20 pounds.   

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This position is primarily a weekday position scheduled within standard daytime business hours. The position may occasionally require individuals to work outside of normal daytime business hours to handle business needs associated with the position responsibilities.
