ABOUT THIS POSITION

The Manager, Application Engineering is responsible for leading a team of brilliant Application Engineers and QA resources to build the award-winning products we offer to our clients. Our Managers are strong leaders who are highly technical and are able to architect, develop and guide the team on complex technical issues.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Manages all day-to-day activities of the team 

  • Manages all day-to-day activities of the software development team. Leads agile rituals and other activities pertaining to the Software Development Lifecycle. 

  • Guides Software Architects and developers on technical issues. Mentors software engineers of development best practices.

  • Establishes processes and procedure for managing the intake of operational tickets for the software development teams 

  • Schedules projects and resources, and monitors project timelines; will ultimately be accountable for the success or failure of all team projects. 

  • Motivates and provides guidance to team members to accomplish team goals through counseling, performance reviews, mentoring, and team building activities  

  • Coaches team members, helping them develop into more senior/experienced resources  

  • Collaborates with the Product Management team to identify priorities for Application Development and enhancements; acquires resources for projects to fit the current and future needs of the Business 

  • Writes detailed business case and technical requirements for technology upgrade/improvement projects  

  • Works closely and cohesively with other Managers within Technology, as well as with key stakeholders in related departments  

  • Helps other Technology Managers set and implement policies and procedures related to application quality, standards, and testing  

  • Plays an integral part in establishing, driving, and enhancing processes and procedures within the team, and within the Technology department as a whole  

  • Establishes training offerings, suited for individuals’ needs, for them to progress  

  • Conducts People Operations responsibilities for all assigned team members, including performance reviews, disciplinary action, etc. 

  • Additional duties as assigned 

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • 7+ years of Java development experience

  • 3+ years of experience managing software development teams

  • Experience with Healthcare Information Exchange standards (X12, HL7) 

  • Experience with relational databases such as PostGres or MySQL. 

  • Experience with Version Control (git) 

  • Experience with Unit and Integration Testing Methodologies 

  • Experience building highly-scalable software solutions 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment & welcome change 

  • Highly self-motivated 

  • Ability to work both in team and solo environments 

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent work experience 

 

Preferred Skills: 

  • N-Tier and SaaS development experience is preferred 

  • Experience with cloud technologies (aws, gcloud, azure)
