The Role
The ideal candidate can reside in Köln, Düsseldorf, Essen, Dortmund and surrounding areas
You will take full ownership of the commercial performance of Moderna’s vaccine portfolio across your assigned regions in Germany. This role is significantly broader than a traditional regional sales management position.
You will operate as a regional business owner, combining strategic territory leadership with hands-on field execution. In this role, you will lead and steer a dedicated field force, translate national strategy into regional execution, and continuously evolve how Moderna engages with physicians, vaccination centers, and pharmacies.
You will define regional priorities, drive performance, and position your region as a frontrunner for modern, digital-first and scalable commercial engagement models.
This is a field-based role with home-office flexibility and requires extensive travel within the region, with occasional national travel.
Here’s What You’ll Do
Full accountability for regional sales, revenue, and market share targets for Moderna’s vaccine portfolio
End-to-end ownership of regional business planning and execution, aligned with national strategy and adapted to local market dynamics (e.g. seasonality, vaccination programs, urban vs. rural coverage)
Leadership, steering, and performance management of the regional field force, including prioritization, target setting, coaching, and continuous development
Driving effective deployment of resources across territories to maximize impact and coverage
Establishing and expanding strategic partnerships with key physicians, vaccination centers, and pharmacies, beyond traditional engagement models
Designing and implementing innovative engagement formats, including digital HCP interactions, hybrid events, pharmacy-led initiatives, and scalable online/offline approaches
Acting as a regional role model and internal advocate for digital and data-driven commercial execution
Continuous analysis of regional market trends, competitive intelligence, and customer needs, translating insights into clear action plans and execution priorities
Close cross-functional collaboration with Marketing, Medical, Access, and Commercial Excellence teams
Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications)
Completed university degree in business administration, pharmaceutical sciences, natural sciences, or a comparable qualification
5–7+ years of professional experience in pharmaceutical field sales, territory, or regional management; experience in vaccines or infectious diseases strongly preferred
Proven experience in leading, steering, and developing a field force or cross-territory commercial teams
Demonstrated success in building and scaling new commercial channels beyond traditional sales models
Strong digital affinity with hands-on experience using CRM systems, e-detailing, virtual HCP engagement, and digital communication tools
Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong ownership mentality and the ability to operate independently in a dynamic environment
High willingness to travel and flexibility in a field-based role
Excellent communication, presentation, and influencing skills; fluent German and English required
