This position reports to:

Your role and responsibilities:
The Production Development Technician (Trainer) leads the training, certification, and documentation process across operations to ensure team members are cross‑trained, qualified, and consistently executing current, approved Work Instructions (WIs). The role maintains accurate training records, drives timely WI updates, and performs routine audits to sustain compliance and standard work on the production floor.
The work model for the role is: onsite 2nd shift (2:30 pm - 11:00 pm) but will train on day shift (6:00 am - 2:30 pm).
This role is contributing to the successful business of the busway factory of ELDS in Selmer ,TN.
You will be mainly accountable for:
Develop and maintain a structured cross-training plan to employees gain proficiency on multiple jobs/processes.
Coordinate training schedules with Supervisors/Team Leads to minimize downtime and meet production needs.
Deliver hands‑on training using approved work instructions, visual aids, job breakdowns, and standardized work documents.
Evaluate trainee progress through observations, knowledge checks, and skills demonstrations; provide coaching and feedback.
Support new‑hire onboarding with safety, quality, and process fundamentals before independent work is assigned.
Define clear, job‑specific qualification criteria (skill steps, quality checks, takt/throughput expectations, safety critical).
Conduct or facilitate practical assessments and written/verbal checks to confirm competence.
Execute formal sign‑off when criteria are met; ensure certification status is visible to Supervisors (e.g., skills matrices, badge/board).
Track expirations or re‑certification dates where required (process changes, safety/critical tasks) and schedule refreshers.
Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date training records in the plant’s chosen system (e.g., training matrices, skills trackers, LMS, controlled documentation files).
Ensure records include trainee name, trainer, process/task, date trained, assessment results, certification status, and re‑cert dates.
Provide weekly/monthly training status reports to Operations, Quality, and HR (coverage, gaps, coming due, completed)
Maintain a complete, indexed set of current work instructions for every area of the plant (including visuals, job aids, and change history).
Partner with Process/Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Safety to update WIs when processes change, improvements are implemented, or new equipment is introduced.
Manage revision control: ensure approvals, effective dates, and version numbers are documented and visible on each work instruction.
Publish work instructions where operators work—digital or printed—so the latest version is accessible at point of use.
Retire superseded documents and prevent use of outdated versions.
Perform scheduled monthly audits at the line/cell level
Capture shop‑floor feedback to identify training gaps, unclear steps, or improvement opportunities in work instructions
Collaborate with CI/Engineering to pilot improvements; update training content and WIs accordingly.
Standardize best practices across shifts/lines and help sustain gains via refresh training and layered audits.
Qualifications for the role (Mandatory)
H.S. Diploma or GED
Prefer Associates degree in business or related field.
Required 2 years experience within a Manufacturing Environment
Prefer production floor experience with standardized work, work instructions or SOPs.
Proven ability to train, coach and assess operators across multiple processes.
Familiarity with document control, versioning, and basic quality systems.
Proficiency with spreadsheets or LMS/skills-tracking tools; strong attention to detail.
Clear communication; able to give constructive feedback and document results.
