At Disney Experiences Technology, our team creates world-class immersive digital experiences for the Company’s premier vacation brands including Disney’s Parks & Resorts worldwide, Disney Cruise Line, Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa, and Disney Vacation Club. The Disney Experiences Technology team is responsible for the end-to-end digital and physical Guest experience for all technology and digital-led initiatives across the Attractions & Entertainment, Food & Beverage, Resorts & Transportation, and Merchandise lines of business as well as other initiatives including the MyDisneyExperience app and Hey, Disney!

As a Senior Software Engineer for the Digital Cast Tools team, you will apply practical knowledge of development and engineering to conceive, design, develop, test, and implement enhancements, new components, new software systems and applications of moderate to high complexity. This role contributes to our collective design and development of components across multiple teams and technical ecosystems.


As a member of the team, you will help define, develop and fulfill the technology needs within one of our most visible Cast-facing platforms: Guest Service Suite (GSS).  As a Senior Software Engineer in this role, you will be responsible for helping our platform technology endeavors within projects across the world, to include Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, and Hong Kong Disneyland.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the conception, design, development, testing, and implementation of our platform components used in Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disneyland Paris and Hong Kong Disneyland.

  • Contribute to the design and development of highly scalable software systems and applications.

  • Contribute to our efforts within technical analysis, effort estimation, product and system design, and production support.

  • Be able to accommodate a variety of diverse requests, priorities, and activities.

  • Develop and foster effective working relationships with other departments, groups and staff. Communication skills are a must.

  • Contribute as a technical liaison and ensure that products are created in a platform-centric manner.

  • Help ensure that the platform is metrics and performance driven.

  • Provide domain assistance to production support teams and help in troubleshooting issues.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5+ progressively related experience in the design, development, and delivery of highly scalable, high-volume software systems and components.

  • Significant knowledge/experience in relevant technologies, such as:

    • Angular

    • JavaScript

    • Node.js

    • HTML5

    • CSS

    • AWS

    • Docker

    • JSON messaging

    • Web services

    • Software performance optimization (memory, CPU, scaling, etc...)

  • Experience with cloud-based development, architecture, and monitoring

  • Knowledge of traditional and agile software development lifecycles and methodologies.

  • Experience with the creation and consumption of web services.

  • Solid understanding of connectivity technologies, advanced network protocols, client-server technologies, applications development and multi-vendor environments.

  • A comfort level with complex, matrixed organizations containing a certain amount of ambiguity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Domain expertise within the Disney guest and cast experience.

  • Exceptional critical thinking, strategic planning, and relationship management skills

  • Ability to influence and lead efforts to provide overall guidance and structure for delivery endeavors

  • Ability to successfully operate in a highly matrix organizational system where partnership and influence are key drivers of success

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience

The hiring range for this position in Florida is $135,200.00-$181,200.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
