Job Description:
General Description: Coordinates all patient insurance billing, verifies insurance coverage, computes patient benefits and compiles itemized bills. Manages the department of accounts receivable
Essential Responsibilities:
- Verifies that procedures and billing charges match monthly production
- Computes total bills showing amounts to be paid by insurance providers and set up payment arrangements.
- Generates patient statements and refunds
- Contacts insurance companies concerning unpaid claims
- Writes letters of appeal
- Sends delinquent accounts to collection agencies
- Verifies all entries made to patient balances and verifies balancing of payments and adjustments
- Trains appropriate personnel on billing process and system
- Contacts patients regarding outstanding balance
- Process insurance and patient payments to patient account
- Rebills insurance companies or other third parties for payment
General Responsibilities:
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree required.
Experience: 5 or more years of experience in accounting or related field required.
License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required: None.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Writes clearly and informatively, edits work for spelling and grammar, presents numerical data effectively.
- Able to read and interpret written information.
- Uses equipment and materials properly.
- Observes safety and security procedures.
