The Manufacturing Engineer owns manufacturing engineering support for gas turbine repair processes involving combustion components, legacy Alstom fleet hardware, and shroud blocks. This role is responsible for developing and improving repair methods, work instructions, operation plans, and inspection plans to ensure safe, efficient, and repeatable execution. Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Provide manufacturing engineering ownership for repair processes related to combustion components, legacy Alstom fleet hardware, and shroud blocks.
- Develop, maintain, and improve manufacturing methods to ensure safe, repeatable, and efficient repair execution.
- Drive standardization of repair processes, execution practices, and documentation across the gas turbine cell.
- Lead the creation, revision, and continuous improvement of work instructions, ensuring alignment with repair engineering requirements, tooling, and shop capabilities.
- Release and maintain repair operation plans and incoming inspection plans to support efficient workflow, accurate defect identification, and effective repair routing.
- Partner with Quality and Repair Engineering to support NCR dispositions, evaluate repair feasibility, and resolve nonconformance issues in a timely manner.
- Lead productivity and continuous improvement initiatives focused on cycle time reduction, labor efficiency, capacity improvement, and waste elimination.
- Analyze repair process costs and identify opportunities for sustainable cost reduction without compromising safety, compliance, or technical integrity.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and qualification projects for new repair methods, expanded component scope, and process changes.
- Provide day-to-day technical support to shop operations, including troubleshooting, process guidance, and coaching on manufacturing standards and best practices.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline.
Minimum 5 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Repair Engineering, or Gas Turbine Repair Operations.
Desired Characteristics
Experience with gas turbine component repair, especially combustion products, legacy Alstom fleet components, and shroud blocks.
Strong knowledge of industrial repair methods, special processes, and manufacturing process controls.
Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively across engineering and operations teams.
