About the Role

Position: Government Relations

Report to: CEO

Location: AIA Office, Ha Noi

OBJECTIVE:

This position will be primarily in charge for (i) building-up and managing of Government Relations with central regulator and authorities, in particular, MOF/ISA/VIDI/GDT/DOLISA (the “Agencies”), (ii) providing advisory services and supports on regulatory inquiries, approval process/ procedures, inspections/reviews and other matters related, and (iii) managing relationships with Vietnam Insurance Association (“IAV”), and other business associations (if any), (iv) CSR, and (v) other assignments by CEO.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Building-up and managing of Government Relations with the Agencies

  • Review, update and advise CEO, Leadership Team, business and support functions for any personnel, management structure/policy/regulatory changes and developments as well as market intelligent/strategies relevant to the Agencies;
  • Develop strategies and priorities to navigate and respond to changes;
  • Provide advisory services to the management, business and support functions in responding regulatory related inquiries or challenges with in-depth analysis, industry/market understanding and solution oriented;
  • Ensure that any engagements with the Agencies or associations are in compliance with AIA’s internal policies and procedures and Vietnamese legislations.

Providing advisory services and supports on regulatory inquiries, approval process/ procedures, inspections/reviews and other matters related

  • Act as the AIA’s primary contact person for GR in coordinating and working with the Agencies for supporting the management and business to get regulatory approval, responses and supports;
  • Engage in and provide solid advice to the management, business and support functions in dealing with regulatory and reputation challenges from GR’s perspective;
  • Liaise with related stakeholders (Legal, Risk, etc.) in working with other local authorities and enforcement agencies, subject to the assignment by CEO;
  • Act as a resource on regulatory matters.

Managing relationships with Vietnam Insurance Association (“IAV”), and other business associations

  • Act as one of the AIA’s primary contact people in (i) coordinating and working with IAV by participating a number of working teams under IAV and (ii) addressing AIA’s proposals and requests;
  • Timely update and advise the management and business on advocacy efforts and industry initiatives led or coordinated by IAV.

Managing CSR agenda

  • Build up the annual plan, activities implementation in close collaboration with related Functions to strongly positioning AIA image and commercial opportunities booster;
  • Promptly propose relevant activities for the management review and consideration upon nature disasters or special occasions.

Others

  • Attend MCC or any AIA’s internal committee as a member;
  • Coach and/or mentor other staff under GR;
  • Other assignments by CEO from time to time.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • University Graduate
  • At least 15 years of government relations management related in insurance (preferred), government agencies, banking, financial institutions, or law firms
  • Relationship and networking building and management
  • Proactive and sensible responding to changes
  • Strategic and straight forward thinking
  • Solution-oriented advisory offering 
  • Fair degree of proficiency in English
  • Advance communication and presentation skills
  • Possess business acumen, be innovative but detail-oriented and self-driven
  • Ability to work independently for the assignments
  • Ability to deal with and handle multiple and changing priorities
  • Ability to work with multiple functions as a trusted partner
