Compensation Range:

$17.00 - $22.10

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

Project Assistant will work under the direction of the Project & Portfolio Management Office (PPMO) Assistant Director. The PPMO at the University of Rochester is looking to hire an undergraduate or graduate student with interest in working with our Project Management team and internal clients. This internship will be focused on project management, business analysis, organizational change and training. This is a temporary internship opportunity.


NOTE: The timeframe for this role is June 2nd – August 7th, 2026

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Work under the guidance of the Information Technology department and administration teams to assist with activities pertaining to the assigned project.
  • Learn and utilize department’s  processes and tools.
  • Track lessons learned throughout assignment for presentation to UIT leadership team.
  • Learn and demonstrate use of Microsoft Office toolset, SharePoint, and other project office collaboration tools.
  • Work closely with manager, establishing a goal plan with objectives to be completed by conclusion of assignment.
  • Other duties as assigned


MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Matriculated in an undergraduate studies program in IT, business administration, healthcare administration, engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 1+ year of work experience is preferred.
  • or an equivalent combination of education training and/or experience required
  • No professional work experience is required.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Technical aptitude with ability to quickly learn new technology preferred.
  • Ability to express complex concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing preferred.
  • Solution oriented with a positive attitude preferred.
  • Strong ability to prioritize. Strong attention to detail preferred.
  • Reliable and able to establish trust with your team preferred.


LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • No professional certification required. Must be able to travel to designated sites as assigned.
