Job Description

What is the opportunity?

The Senior Manager, NIM & KPI raises organizational understanding, drives internal and external messaging and uncovers insights through decomposition of reported NIM performance drivers and intelligent forecasting of NIM outlooks for RBC’s Personal Banking and Commercial Banking businesses.  They are responsible for identifying trends, developing and maintaining a robust data infrastructure and enabling clearer understanding of what drives NIM performance supporting informed business discussions of trade-offs and financial consequences of different actions.  Additionally, the Senior Manager will be responsible for creating NIM-related KPIs and leveraging technology to transform the delivery of NIM insights to increase sharing of information, and streamlining of deliverables and processes.

What will you do?

  • Lead monthly NIM analysis and driver decomposition for Personal Banking, Commercial Banking (and combined Personal & Commercial Banking), including data ownership, coordination, and investigating queries
  • Continuous forecasting of short to medium term outlooks for NIM highlighting trending and key supporting drivers
  • Manage NIM database and model – devise designs and any required changes to data structure, data inputs, with need for continuous improvement
  • Act as NIM subject-matter expert: responsible for developing explanations, insights and proposed messaging for Personal Banking, Commercial Banking and Finance executive consumption across NIM actuals and forecast results
  • Transform delivery of NIM insights, KPIs and knowledge to both Finance and their business partners to enable better transparency and to support management of NIM, net interest income and volume growth performance
  • Support Investor Relations, Enterprise Performance Management, External Reporting, etc. in NIM-related disclosures, dashboard / target measurement requests
  • Special projects as assigned

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • 5+ years’ experience working within or advising a Financial Institution
  • Excellent financial modeling and demonstrated ability to drive insights
  • Ability to create presentations and concise messaging for an executive audience
  • Knowledge of the retail and commercial banking products and financial / MIS systems

Nice-to-have   

  • Basic knowledge of SQL/database constructs and ability to manage and structure data
  • Tableau or other visualization experience
  • Experience or knowledge with interest rate internal transfer pricing methodologies
  • CA, CFA, MBA (or similar educational background)
