The McCombs School of Business is looking for a student employee to provide support for the Stewardship team within Development and External Relations.
Development and External Relations (DER) is the fundraising team for the McCombs School of Business – responsible for building and maintaining relationships with donors, alumni, and friends of Texas McCombs and the University. This position specifically works with the Stewardship team, which focuses on sharing the impact of philanthropic support to McCombs through donor recognition, impact reporting and acknowledgements. We strive to demonstrate the gratitude felt by our students, faculty, and staff to our generous donors and supporters who make a McCombs education possible.
The Stewardship Student Assistant will primarily assist with preparing, reviewing, editing and mailing letters to McCombs donors and supporters as part of the University’s endowment reporting process. This position requires experience — preferably in a professional setting — with writing and editing, handling sensitive data and working in Microsoft Excel and Word. The ideal candidate is highly organized and has a strong attention to detail. Proper time management is essential to effectively meet deadlines set by University Compliance.
Additional tasks may include:
Creating impact reports and donor recognition materials
Entering, curating and manipulating data in Excel; tracking projects and deadlines
Maintaining and updating inventory of promotional items
Preparing and assembling project mailings
Signing thank you cards
Writing and tracking donor correspondence
Assisting with other projects, as assigned
Cross training with and supporting other teams with projects, as needed
Staffing events, as availability allows
All stewardship student assistants are responsible for:
Supporting development projects
Handling sensitive and classified data in accordance with University security and compliance standards
Using Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook) to communicate and handle projects
Collaborating on projects utilizing Box
Identifying opportunities for improved workflow and project management
Learning about scholarships and endowments at McCombs and UT
Learning and utilizing the VIP system (database used to maintain donor information)
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Must be a University of Texas at Austin student, enrolled for at least 6 credit hours.
Writing and editing experience
Well-developed proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
Strong written and verbal communication skills
High level of attention to detail
Ability to consistently meet deadlines

Student assistants are expected to work 10-12 hours a week. Students may work up to 19 hours in the summer. Schedules will be determined at the start of each semester with flexibility around academic schedules and responsibilities. Each shift must be at least 2 hours long.
We are seeking a student who is available to start work this summer, with the expectation that you will continue into the fall semester. Many of our students work with us until graduation.
Student Assistants work in the DER office located in McCombs GSB (2110 Speedway) for shifts between 10 am and 3 pm, Monday through Friday.
