Space Systems Group at Leidos currently has an opening for a Manufacturing Engineer to work in our Decatur, Al. office. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the Universal Stage Adapter team to accomplish their mission.

Primary Responsibilities

Candidate selected for this position will work in an office/lab environment accountable for creating manufacturing orders, communicating with other manufacturing engineers, manufacturing lead, quality, safety and technicians. This role is for a 100% on site person with a desire to be hands-on and coordinate work done to physical hardware.

Basic Qualifications

  • Provide manufacturing engineering aid for assembly and integration of space hardware, with a focus on facility 5s and FOD practices in the Assembly area, tracking deliverable hardware for discrepancies and NCRS, and ultimately build and deliver hardware.
  • The person will also be accountable for participating in process development to improve overall system quality control.
  • Creation of work instructions and manufacturing orders for the production processes/assemblies within the scope of the role.
  • Accountable for providing manufacturing engineering oversight and input during the fabrication and assembly process.
  • Receive feedback and incorporate to design and manufacturing instructions.
  • Communicate layout of the process in the facility, evaluating and planning workflow, space needs and equipment layout.
  • Provide aid to root cause manufacturing issues in development and production.
  • Bachelors Degree with a minimum of 2 years of work history in a manufacturing environment is needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Work history with composite manufacturing and post layup processing of composite structures
  • Familiar with AS9100 and Quality Assurance and Quality Control industry best practices
  • Creative problem solver; able to work in multi-disciplinary teams Excellent social, coaching, and influence skills.
  • Work history with Costpoint, Solumina, or SAP is desired.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $48,100.00 - $86,950.00
