We are seeking an experienced Senior Legal Assistant to provide full litigation support to two tort attorneys who handle first- and third-party auto and general liability cases and to assist with general office support. The ideal candidate will join a high-volume, paperless, team-based environment that is dynamic and rewarding. Key responsibilities include:

  • Utilizing appropriate software to timely e-file, order medical records and create documents like correspondence, reports, motions, pleadings, discovery and deposition notices.

  • Creating/editing court documents consistent with court requirements in Michigan.

  • Keeping attorney calendars current based on court notifications and depositions.

  • Assisting attorneys in preparing for trial.

  • Providing extensive scheduling and calendar activity, including depositions.

  • Reviewing electronic mail and documents on a daily basis.

  • Demonstrating professionalism during each and every interaction with clients, opposing counsel, home office staff, attorneys, teammates, claim partners, and court employees.

  • Managing and manipulating electronic documents in TIF, PDF and JPG formats.

  • Assisting peers, attorneys, and manager in overall support of the office as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience as a litigation legal assistant in a law office or corporation.

  • Insurance defense background and personal injury experience strongly preferred.

  • Successful candidates will have experience in a high-volume litigation environment that includes but is not limited to preparing pleadings and discovery, scheduling depositions, scheduling IMEs, ordering medical records, and maintaining Outlook calendars.

  • Strong multi-tasking and time management skills.

  • Independently motivated to meet and exceed job requirements.

  • Demonstrated team player who can be flexible, efficient and still be detail-oriented.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience and comfort working in a paperless environment.

  • Trial support experience is a plus.

*Note* This is a 100% remote work from home opportunity. (Successful applicants must have the ability to travel/work within our office as needed.)

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$54,160 - $81,240
