The role

Our Corporate, M&A & Capital Markets practice is currently recruiting for a senior Corporate M&A expert to join the team as a Knowledge Lawyer. This is a parental leave cover contract for approximately 12-18 months depending on the requirements of the successful candidate.

In this role, you will be responsible for the knowledge management of the practice, equipping the team with the expertise, tools and confidence to provide outstanding legal services to our clients. 

Working as an integral and valued member of the practice and the team, the role will be responsible for:

  • providing expert corporate law and transactions advicesupport to the Clayton Utz Corporate, M&A & Capital Markets team;

  • drafting, developing and maintaining a repository of corporate legal precedents; and

  • ensuring accuracy, relevance and accessibility of these resources by capturing knowledge and insights from ongoing legal work, client interactions and industry developments.

The role would suit a senior corporate M&A lawyer who is seeking a change of pace from transactional practice, without the pressure of billable hours. 

The role is being offered on a part-time 3 day per week basis, with a high degree of flexibility available.

Skills & Experience


To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • At least 5 years PQE with a strong background in transactional corporate law experience, gained at a reputable commercial law firm.

  • Exceptional written skills and attention to detail.

  • The ability to co-ordinate and undertake precedent development and drafting, research activities, and to draft appropriate summaries or commentaries.

  • Excellent communication skills, with ability and tact to manage expectations and deal effectively with competing interests.

  • Excellent organisational skills.

  • The ability to conduct training sessions for practitioners at different levels, including formal presentations, workshops and one-on-one training.
