Job Description

Responsible for coaching teams to adopt and implement engineering best practices.  Acts as a change agent who helps set the vision, show the way, and provide thought leadership on removing impediments to engineering and technology success. Coaches and mentors product team members at either the team and/or program levels, including Scrum Masters, Product Owners, Technical Leads, Software Engineers, and executives to leverage engineering principles and practices to deliver high value business capabilities.  Helps coach the team on best practices, design thinking, and engineering culture in real time on work from the team's product backlog.  Serves as a subject matter expert on scaling engineering practices, embraces servant leadership, understands engineering culture, and serves as a role model for the team to model engineering behaviors and mindsets, which includes key mindset shifts in the journey to the creation of a vibrant engineering culture.  Designs, develops, and facilitates training of engineering best practices to assigned teams. Performs evaluations, assessments, and reviews of processes and methodologies.  Identifies strengths and continuous improvement recommendations of existing processes.

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Extensive experience with engineering best practices 

  • Working knowledge of system development lifecycle (SDLC) and process change/improvement  

  • Experience coaching and working with teams, product managers, and engineering leaders (lead through influence)

  • Ability to coach, teach, and guide leaders and teams through outcomes-based planning and value delivery  

  • Working knowledge and experience with Design Sprints and/or Product Discovery tactics 

  • 3 or more years architecting various engineering tools, including three or more of code repository, agile flow, orchestration, deployment, and binary repository

  • Experience in multiple types of testing, including but not limited to Unit, Functional, Performance, End to End, TDD, and behavioral driven development

  • Experience with co-located and distributed teams, in multiple time zones 

  • Demonstrated ability to partner and communicate effectively with highly-technical team members on a wide range of engineering practices and tools (CI/CD, SRE/Observability, Java, .Net, Phython, Cloud, API, DevOps etc.)

  • Ability to work in ambiguity and rapidly iterate to a solution

  • Creative, flexible, and willing to continuously change, evolve, and improve engineering processes 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Rapid iterative Development, Professional Coaching, Leadership Coaching, Facilitation, and Mentoring

  • Ability to coach engineers on engineering best practices and shift mindset to new ways of working

Location Expectations

The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $98,175.00 - $115,500.00 - $127,050.00
