Job Summary:

Works accounts requiring special handling to mitigate regulatory, legal and reputational risk to our clients and Reliance Recoveries. Works with legal counsel and Reliance leadership to formulate, create and maintain policies and procedures regarding special handling accounts. Primary point of contact for all communication from attorneys relating to special handling accounts.

Job Description:

Principle Responsibilities

  • Work special handling accounts (list below) from work queue that are subject to increased regulatory compliance or increased litigation or pose a high risk to Allina Health’s reputation. Cases will be prioritized based on timeliness (probate filing, insurance filing etc). Resolve these cases by full collection or determining next steps such as consulting with legal collections attorney or other avenues.
    • Bankruptcies
    • Motor vehicle accident
    • Probate
    • Workman’s comp
    • Attorney represented accounts
  • Work with legal counsel and legal collections firm to address legal or compliance concerns, primary point of contact for outside attorney’s related to special handling accounts
  • Create and maintain policies, procedures and standard work relating to special handling accounts and participate in applicable compliance educational learnings to stay current on industry standards and requirements.
  • Create and maintain special handling collections reporting process
  • Provide training to collections staff
    • Other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements

  • Associate's or Vocational degree in business, healthcare or related field preferred
  • 2 to 5 years of collections experience required
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in third party collections, and medical collections preferred and
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in working probate, attorney handling, and/or other accounts requiring special handling preferred
