The Director of Business Operations provides a unique opportunity to work closely with the COO and the senior leadership team in shaping the operational strategy and driving execution across the business. You will have the ability to make a significant impact on the organization’s growth, efficiency, and culture, ensuring alignment between business operations and strategic goals

This position serves as a trusted advisor and partner, working closely with the COO to manage and execute the organization’s priorities.  

The Director of Business Operations ensures alignment between the COO and business units and ensures the smooth day-to-day operation of the COO’s organization. The role demands strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills, and the ability to influence and drive cross-functional collaboration. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Strategic Planning and Execution: Assist the COO and leadership in translating company strategies into actionable plans. Support the development, coordination, and execution of key initiatives that drive organizational goals. 
  • Operational Efficiency: In collaboration with leadership, streamline processes within the COO’s office to improve operational efficiency. Oversee daily operations, ensuring smooth coordination between teams and the execution of tasks that align with strategic objectives. 
  • Program Management: Lead and manage cross-functional projects and programs on behalf of the COO, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and with measurable outcomes. Track progress on key initiatives, provide updates, and resolve issues that may arise. 
  • Executive Support: Act as a key advisor and support for the COO in decision-making, managing priorities, and ensuring alignment of strategic objectives. Prepare briefings, reports, and presentations for leadership meetings. 
  • Stakeholder Management: Serve as the liaison between the COO and other business units. Ensure clear communication and alignment across departments, fostering collaboration and coordination on company-wide initiatives. 
  • Change Management: Lead or support organizational change initiatives, ensuring smooth transitions and effective adoption of new processes or structures. Partner with teams to manage resistance and promote engagement during times of change. 
  • Meeting Preparation and Facilitation: Evolve the rhythm of the business governance, with input from key stakeholders, to ensure the right cadence and balance of strategic and operational emphasis including annual and quarterly review and planning. Prepare agendas and materials for executive meetings, ensure alignment of priorities, and follow up on action items. Attend meetings on behalf of the COO when required 
  • Communication and Reporting: Develop and maintain communication channels within the COO’s office and between senior leaders. Create and distribute updates on strategic initiatives and ensure the timely flow of information. 

Experience: 

  • Proven experience in a Chief of Staff, or senior operational role, preferably in a fast-paced or high-growth technology environment. 
  • Strong organizational, planning, and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliverables. 
  • Deep understanding of business operations, financial metrics, and performance drivers in a technology company. 
  • Strong analytical skills: Ability to interpret data, identify trends, and use insights to inform business decisions. 
  • Proficiency in data analysis and performance metrics to drive operational improvements. 
  • Experience in budgeting, resource allocation, and forecasting, ensuring the COO’s priorities are met within financial constraints 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate across all levels of the organization. 
  • Strategic thinking with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to translate strategy into execution. 
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence without authority. 
  • Experience in handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion. 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and drive results. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Management, or a related field (MBA preferred).  
  • 10+ years of experience in a leadership or operational role, with a minimum of 5 years working closely with C-level executives, particularly in technology companies. 
  • Experience in a Chief of Staff role or a similar strategic/operational role managing diverse functions like business operations, strategy execution, and organizational change. 
  • Proven track record of driving cross-functional projects, coordinating multiple departments (e.g., Product, Engineering, Sales, Marketing), and managing large-scale initiatives to successful completion.

The annual base pay for this position is: $183,761.00 - $275,641.00

F5 maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, geographic locations, and market conditions, as well as to reflect F5’s differing products, industries, and lines of business.
