Role Overview
The Supply Chain Innovation & Portfolio Director is a business and technical supply chain leader working as an individual contributor and is responsible for shaping and enabling front‑end, future‑back innovation for the ASP Operating Unit. The role operates upstream of regional execution, partnering with Marketing Innovation lead, category lead, GDI, Finance via Innovation hub to ensure innovation portfolios are feasible, scalable, and value‑accretive from a supply chain perspective before NPD cascades to the regions.
This role does not act as a technical supply chain service provider, instead, it is Supply Chain leadership at the innovation table, influencing portfolio choices, incubator models, and market launch pathways to maximise business impact. It also ensures the innovation portfolio is future‑ready, executable, and aligned with ASP capabilities and strategy.
Key responsibilities:
TISC Leadership & Innovation Orchestration
Act as the TISC representative and thought partner at Innovation Hub & Innovation council, also for any NPD at early‑stage supply chain feasibility assessments until launch market(s) are confirmed at which point ownership transitions to regional commercialization, including:
Manufacturing and sourcing capability fit i.e Capability gaps and options (In house, co-pack, acquisition).
Network and capacity implications
Material availability and constraints
Preliminary value chain and high level required investment
Drive supply‑chain‑enabled innovation choices that maximise scalability, speed, and value creation.
Collaborate with Innovation Hub teams by translating business ideas into supply chain‑ready concepts
Support Regional Technical team by reducing late‑stage rework and execution risk.
Business Case & Product Feasibility Governance
Partner with regional stakeholders and Supply chain Packaging expert to assess: Product and packaging feasibility, value chain design and cost‑to‑serve, capital and capability implications
Resource alignment and prioritisation (fast track, acceleration)
Reduce Innovation & Technical risk by embedding supply chain thinking early.
Ensures innovation programs are aligned with ASP supply chain strategy & Long‑term capability and infrastructure roadmap
Formula Chassis Harmonisation
Co-Lead formula & specification harmonisation program and common chassis strategies with GDI & Marketing category to enable faster market replication, reduce technical and operational complexity. This improves scale economics across ASP and agility for network optimisation among the markets in the future.
Partner with Marketing, GDI and Regional Technical teams to balance local market needs with system scalability.
Simplify for Growth (SKU & Portfolio Optimization)
Lead SKU rationalisation and portfolio optimisation decisions
Drive focused simplification efforts to unlock growth capacity at targeted markets
Ensure simplification decisions improve speed, focus, and supply chain efficiencies while protecting consumer and customer value.
Stakeholder Engagement
Qualifications & Requirements: 6 – 8 years in similar role
Strategic innovation leadership: Ability to shape future‑back innovation portfolios and influence early‑stage decisions for maximum business impact.
Strong supply chain & technical expertise: Deep understanding of manufacturing, sourcing, network capacity, packaging, formula, and capital trade‑offs to assess feasibility and scalability early.
Business & financial acumen: Capability to evaluate value chains, cost‑to‑serve, investment needs, and portfolio trade‑offs.
Cross‑functional influence: Proven ability to lead without authority and collaborate effectively with Marketing, GDI, Finance, and Regional Technical teams.
Innovation governance & program management: Experience with NPD/TISC governance, stage‑gate processes, risk mitigation, and KPI tracking.
Portfolio & complexity management: Expertise in SKU rationalization, formula harmonization, and simplification to enable growth.
Analytical & problem‑solving mindset: Data‑driven, structured thinker who can operate in ambiguity and propose practical solutions.
Leadership behaviors: Innovative, solutions‑oriented, resilient, and comfortable working in fast‑moving, ambiguous environments.
