Position Summary

Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS) is seeking an innovative and results-oriented leader to serve as the Vice President, Medical Head Asia Pacific. This key role will oversee all medical affairs activities in the Asia Pacific region, encompassing a dynamic and diverse set of markets. The VP will be responsible for developing and executing a regionally tailored medical strategy that delivers exceptional outcomes for patients, advances BMS’s scientific leadership, and drives business impact.

Key Responsibilities

Regional Medical Leadership

  • Lead the development and execution of the medical affairs strategy across the Asia Pacific region, ensuring alignment with global objectives and local market dynamics.
  • Tailor medical strategies to address the unique challenges and opportunities of Asia Pacific markets, including regulatory complexity, healthcare access variability, and cultural diversity.
  • Oversee the medical support for product launches, life cycle management, and patient-focused initiatives, ensuring seamless execution and measurable outcomes.

Team Development and Empowerment

  • Build and inspire a high-performing, inclusive, and culturally sensitive medical team across the Asia Pacific region.
  • Invest in talent development by fostering opportunities for learning, growth, and leadership within the regional medical organization.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, innovation, and collaboration, enabling teams to excel in delivering impactful results for patients and customers.

Scientific and Portfolio Impact

  • Drive thought leadership and scientific engagement, positioning BMS as a trusted partner to HCPs, regulatory bodies, and patient advocacy groups across the region.
  • Ensure excellence in medical engagement, with a focus on awareness, perception, and adoption of BMS’s therapies, particularly in high-priority therapeutic areas.
  • Integrate digital tools and data-driven insights to elevate the quality and efficiency of medical activities and decision-making.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Commercial, Market Access, R&D, and International Medical teams to align strategies, ensure launch excellence, and maximize the value of the portfolio.
  • Serve as the regional medical leader, providing input into global and international strategies to ensure Asia Pacific’s unique needs and perspectives are reflected.
  • Work closely with regional leadership to address market-specific challenges and capitalize on growth opportunities, ensuring BMS achieves its ambition in the region.

Operational Excellence and Outcomes

  • Drive operational excellence by optimizing resource allocation, budget management, and strategic prioritization to maximize efficiency and impact.
  • Ensure a focus on measurable outcomes across all medical activities, creating systems to track and evaluate performance to drive continuous improvement.
  • Identify and address barriers to patient access and engagement, tailoring solutions to local market needs while maintaining global alignment.

Key Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in medicine, science, or a related field (MD, PhD, or PharmD; MD preferred).
  • 10+ years of medical affairs experience, with a strong track record of success in the Asia Pacific region or similar markets.
  • In-depth knowledge of the region’s regulatory environments, healthcare systems, and cultural diversity.
  • Demonstrated expertise in leading large, geographically distributed teams and fostering a culture of high performance and accountability.
  • Proven ability to execute medical strategies that deliver measurable business and patient outcomes.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership skills, with experience working collaboratively across Commercial, Market Access, and R&D.
  • A patient-first mindset, with the ability to translate global strategies into regionally tailored, impactful solutions.

BMS has a diverse occupancy structure that determines where an employee is required to conduct their work.
