As a Senior Data Management Specialist, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping and enhancing our data ecosystem by leading the administration and adoption of industry-leading platforms like Alation. This is a HYBRID role in our downtown Toronto office.

What You’ll Be Doing:
Lead adoption efforts for enterprise data management frameworks (e.g., data governance, metadata, data lineage, data quality).
Partner with CDAOs, Data Management Leads, data owners, stewards, and technology teams to embed data management practices into day-to-day operations.
Design and execute training, awareness, and communication campaigns to improve data literacy and accountability across business units.
Develop metrics to track adoption, identify friction points, and drive continuous improvement.
Align implementation with regulatory expectations (e.g., OSFI, PIPEDA, CCPA, BCBS 239).
Collaborate with Enterprise data teams, Risk, Compliance, and Technology teams to harmonize data-related initiatives.
What Makes You Stand Out:
5+ years of experience in driving adoption of data management programs and practices at an enterprise level (e.g., enterprise data governance, metadata management, data quality frameworks).
5+ years of experience in data management, data governance, or data strategy roles within large financial institutions (preferably banks or capital markets).
Proven change management expertise, particularly in influencing data culture and behaviors
Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including experience working with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
Experience in building user-centric onboarding and training strategies (e.g., role-based training, guided walkthroughs, workshops)
Ability to establish and monitor success metrics and KPIs to measure catalog adoption, metadata completeness, and user engagement
Experience with enterprise data management tools (e.g., Alation, Manta, Collibra, Informatica, or similar platforms).
Good understanding of financial services regulatory requirements related to data (e.g., OSFI E-23, BCBS 239, PIPEDA, CCPA, GDPR).

Additional Information:
Designs, builds and operates ETL and pipeline development activities and modeling solutions that facilitate data storage, integration, management, data quality, validation and security, supporting the entire data asset lifecycle. Designs, implements and maintains data flow channels and data processing systems that support the collection, storage, batch and real-time processing, and analysis of information in a scalable, repeatable and secure manner. Manages corporate apps and data in the cloud and technical tasks involved in planning, architecting, migrating, monitoring, and management of enterprise cloud systems.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.
