The Manager, Billing & Collections is a strategic and hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing the company’s billing operations and accounts receivable function. This individual will design, implement, and monitor efficient billing and collection processes that ensure accuracy, compliance, and strong customer relationships. The role also provides leadership to a billing team, driving accountability through performance metrics (KPIs), supporting automation initiatives, and ensuring adherence to internal controls. 

 

The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader with a strong technical background in billing systems, proven experience in accounts receivable, and the ability to balance operational excellence with client satisfaction. 

What you'll do:

Leadership & Team Management 

  • Lead, coach, and develop the Billing & Collections team to achieve high levels of accuracy, efficiency, and customer service. 

  • Establish clear team KPIs, monitor performance, and provide regular feedback and professional development opportunities. 

  • Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. 

Billing & Collections Operations 

  • Oversee the design, implementation, and deployment of billing and collections procedures across the organization. 

  • Ensure timely and accurate invoicing, collections, and reconciliations in alignment with company policies and compliance requirements. 

  • Evaluate and approve customer credit applications and make recommendations for continuation or maintenance of services. 

  • Monitor outstanding accounts and escalate high-risk issues to leadership when necessary. 

Systems & Process Improvement 

  • Lead adoption and optimization of Accounts Receivable technology, automation solutions, and related implementation efforts. 

  • Periodically assess the effectiveness of billing and collections procedures; recommend and implement process changes to improve efficiency and accuracy. 

  • Partner with IT and Finance leadership to ensure system integrations support streamlined billing operations. 

Compliance & Financial Controls 

  • Maintain strong internal controls within the billing and collections function to protect company financial integrity. 

  • Ensure compliance with contracts, regulatory requirements, and company policies. 

  • Safeguard all sensitive financial and client information with the highest standards of confidentiality. 

Cross-Functional Collaboration 

  • Partner with Sales, Finance, Operations, and Customer Service teams to ensure billing accuracy and resolve issues proactively. 

  • Provide timely, accurate reporting and insights to senior leadership regarding billing performance, collections activity, and process improvement opportunities. 

  • Serve as a trusted resource to leadership, communicating clearly and professionally on issues, risks, and solutions. 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

Experience 

  • 5–7 years of accounts receivable or billing experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity (Required). 

  • Experience in healthcare staffing or a professional services environment (Preferred). 

  • Experience with Workday or similar ERP systems (Preferred). 

Skills & Competencies 

  • Strong understanding of billing and collections best practices, credit evaluations, and receivables management. 

  • Proven ability to lead teams, establish KPIs, and drive performance results. 

  • Proficiency with ERP systems, billing software, and advanced Microsoft Excel functions. 

  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills. 

  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professional judgment. 

Compensation:

  • The expected base salary range for this position is $87,000 to $100,000 annually. The final compensation offered will be determined based on a number of factors, including but not limited to skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
