Position Summary...

Drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects by identifying customer and operational needs; developing and communicating business plans and priorities; removing barriers and obstacles that impact performance; providing resources; identifying performance standards; measuring progress and adjusting performance accordingly; developing contingency plans; and demonstrating adaptability and supporting continuous learning. Traffic Foundation is an organization inside Walmart Global Tech that builds smart networking infrastructure (CDNs, load balancers, proxies, DNS resolvers, etc) to make sites faster and more reliable for customers and employees.

Edge Load Balancers is a team within Traffic Foundation that focuses on operating and enhancing multiple massive clusters of WAFs, reverse proxies and load-balancers in our private and public clouds.  

What will you do

As an engineer in the Edge Ingress team, you will be responsible to do the following:

• Lead the design, planning and implementation of WAF and Load Balancer technologies utilizing best practices of load-balancing and client security
• Act as a SRE to troubleshoot operational problems at the network, host, and application levels. 
• Automated infrastructure provisioning and configuration management using IaC (Infrastructure-as-code) tooling
• Build tooling to provide monitoring and alerting for key systems and provide automated and manual issue mitigation solutions 

What will you bring

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or Mathematics or 5 years of applicable industry experience 
• A familiarity with Linux or UNIX systems engineering 
  • Interactive and scripted bash power-user skills (bash fluency) 
  • Familiarity with command line tools 
• Experience and fluency in one of the following programming languages: Go, C/C++, Python
• Experience in using one of the following configuration management technologies: Salt, Ansible
• Experience in using one of the following cloud providers: Azure, Google Cloud/GCP
• Experience in using Terraform to provision and manage infrastructure as code 
• An understanding of application layer protocols such as HTTP/S, DNS, and the basic networking protocols such as Ethernet, IP, TCP/UDP 

Nice to Haves:

• Familiarity with F5 WAF and Citrix Load Balancer solutions
• Fluency in Go and Python
• Experience with Content Delivery Networks (CDNs)
