Position Summary:

If you are a distribution or warehouse leader, we have an exciting opportunity for you! Based in our El Paso, Texas location, you will be responsible for both strategic and operational leadership to ensure “best in class” daily operation of our distribution center. This role ensures an All Hands On Safety culture and a positive work environment. You must drive process improvement and maintain high service levels for customers while aligning with corporate objectives. Your duties and responsibilities will be completed under the general guidance of the Director of Distribution, Logistics, and Trade Compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Leadership

  • Develop and lead a staff of supervisors with an emphasis on team building, group collaboration, communication, performance accountability, and positive employee engagement.

  • Establishes and maintains strong working relationships with Plant Managers, Materials teams, Customer Service, and Human Resources.

  • Enforces policies and safety regulations, providing appropriate negative & positive feedback in a fair and consistent way to manage safe working behaviors.

  • Advanced communication, negotiation, problem-solving, change management, and conflict resolution capabilities.

 

Safety

  • Manage and model our safety culture and strive for 100% compliance concerning safety policies and procedures.

  • Maintain general oversight of building conditions with particular attention paid to cleanliness, product storage, safety concerns, product damage prevention and internal security concerns. This includes maintenance of warehouse, IT, and test equipment.

  • Ensures the operation complies with federal, state, local and Copeland safety, health and labor standards.

Continuous Improvement

  • Demonstrated a continuous effort to improve warehouse operations by decreasing turnaround time, streamlining work-processes, and providing customer support.

  • Utilize performance reports on a regular basis to achieve metrics and establish action plans for continuous improvement.

  • Proven ability to think critically and strategically plan to improve performance in department.

Budget Management

  • Ownership of site’s annual budget and managing individual cost accounts. Develop, Prepare, and monitor expenses and identifying opportunities for cost savings.

Operational Excellence/Performance Monitoring

  • Lead and measure daily processes to ensure order fulfillment and production are completed. Partner with the Director of Distribution for resolving challenges and ensuring timely and accurate completion or order fulfillment. Operation is expected to ship 1,800 lines / 90,000 units per day.

  • Monthly execution of key performance indicators (KPIs), productivity, on time delivery, sales, cycle counts, safety, etc. Strong analytical, benchmarking, and quantitative skills to understand results to assess operational efficiency and implement improvements. Produce data and reports on distribution activities.

  • Ability to interpret WMS production data with pre-determined productivity expectations to identify opportunities and challenges.

  • Develop and implement cost savings initiatives.

  • Balances labor requirements for the operation to align with monthly forecasts and performance targets.

Required education, experiences, & skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field.

  • 7+ years warehouse experience in a high-volume, high-SKU, site that includes receiving, pick/pack/shipping, quality, kitting, cross dock, and inventory management.

  • 5+ years in a Management-level, people leader role

  • 5+ years with hands on ERP system (Oracle, SAP, JD Edwards) experience that includes WMS platforms. Familiarity with WMS/ERP integration.

  • Certifications such as Six Sigma Green/Black Belt, APICS CPIM, or CSCP

  • Strong knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies

  • Must be able to effectively and professionally communicate verbally and in writing in English and Spanish.

  • Experience with MS Office Suite

Preferred education, experiences, & skills:

  • Master’s degree (MBA or Operations) strongly preferred.

  • Experience on distribution center systems automation systems and also supporting applications (e.g., WES, WCS, RF, Conveyors, Label Applicators, In Line Scanners, etc)

  • Proven experience leading the end-to-end implementation of a Warehouse Management System

  • Certifications such as Six Sigma Green/Black Belt, APICS CPIM, or CSCP

  • Experience facilitating improvement events preferred. 

  • Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 policies and practices.

  • Ability to work flexible hours and/or a variety of shifts.

 

Work Environment:

Employee will be exposed to moderate noise level. Due to the open environment of the warehouse, must be able to work in various weather and temperature conditions to include extreme heat, humidity and cold. High forklift traffic.

 

Schedule:

Standard working hours are Monday – Friday, 8am to 4:30pm MST. As business dictates there may be the need to work outside of these hours including Saturdays.

 

Physical Requirements:

Employee must be able to work standing, frequent bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, pushing and pulling of parts, lift up to 50 lbs. Move boxes 50% of the time or more.
