Job Description:

Responsibilities

Health Research, Inc. is currently seeking an Hourly Project Assistant II to join the NYSDOH Western Regional Office Healthcare Epidemiology team. 

The Hourly Project Assistant II will liaise with and follow up with NYSDOH staff and Article 28 infection preventionists to collect information related to healthcare-associated reporting requirements. The Hourly Project Assistant II will capture the data into relevant databases in a timely and accurate manner, identify and correct errors, and swiftly bring issues to the attention of the lead epidemiologist. Other specific responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Assisting staff with healthcare-associated reporting data collection,

  • Assisting with data cleaning and quality procedures,

  • Creating and maintaining accurate spreadsheets,

  • Entering and updating data into the relevant reporting applications,

  • Storing digital copies of data and reports in an organized manner to optimize retrieval,

  • Assisting with gathering information for public inquiries related to nosocomial healthcare-associated diseases, and

  • Accompanying the lead epidemiologist on active investigations within the Western Regional Office.


Minimum Qualifications

Undergraduate student pursuing a public health, epidemiology, or health informatics major or a closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Graduate student with knowledge of communicable diseases or MPH graduate with experience in biostatistics and/or epidemiology. Clinical experience or experience with public health data management systems.

Conditions of Employment
Grant funded, hourly position expected to last through 12/13/2024. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.


Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting will not be available.

Travel, up to 25%, will be required.
